First, because they have been raised with the notion, promoted by Disney and others, that animals are just little people in cute costumes, who prance around singing and discussing world events when people are not present. And, they have no understanding of the reality that animals do not meet their end lying in bed, with friends and family at their side while soft music plays in the background. Animals, with very rare exceptions, die slow, miserable deaths in the wild.

The second reason is that they have no concept of wildlife management and what it means to the real welfare of animals. They have never seen Bambi stumbling through the woods with a distended belly, looking like a rack of bones because there is not sufficient food due to overpopulation and lack of predators.

The third reason is that being an "animal rights activist" is convenient. It provides those who believe themselves to be the saviors of the animal kingdom with a constituency they don't have to consult with, or receive the approval of, while creating a social identity for themselves.

Because "some" people think all animals have more rights to be on the planet than humans do, because "some" hunters think it's it's a "sport", and because "some" people think all wildlife have more rights as humans.
Hunting is not a SPORT, it's a national pastime, a way to put food on the table, and a recreational activity. Anyone who says it's a "sport" is incorrect. Anyone who disagrees can look up the definition of "sport" and expain how it's competitive. Human with weapon = food on table.
Each state has regulations on how may of each species of animal can be harvested each day or season, depending on the population of each species.
You'd be surprised by the number of people in Ohio that "hate" hunters, until THEIR car hits a deer. Then, "they" wish more deer were shot by hunters than how many were taken by automobiles. I guess it depends on whether you have a $100 or $500 deductible or how many passengers in your car were hurt by a deer coming through your windshield.
I prefer to hunt in the woods with a gun rather than on the roads with a car.
And even though rabbits and squirrel don't normally put cars in ditches, I'll do my part to keep them off the road.

Those people are un-educated on the subject they are protesting...also on the other hand some hunters lead by bad example and make other hunters look ever worse to those type of hunting bashers

Because society has turned soft. They would rather buy there hamburgers from McDonalds instead of working for it. Hunting is a pratice mankind has done for all of time. It has just started in the last few years people don´t eat meat. If they think hunting is cruel they need to open there eyes and see the world is not a happy little fairy land where the animal just falls over and is meat.

Maybe because we refer to it as a "sport" and for some of us who are a little more sensitive it doesn't seem very sporting to the animal. However as a meat eater, it doesn't seem very fair to dislike someone based on how they get their meat. Most hunters are responsible people. Their fees and licenses and clubs finance the study and maintenance of the health and habitat of our wildlife.

Vegetarians and Vegans have their own issues with hunting and any kind of animal cruelty. I have come to this conclusion after years of grappling with it...the earth is covered for winter for many months of the year, long before refrigerators, God must have meant for us to eat something to make it to harvest. Fish and flesh would have been the choice. I'm okay with it now.

Because people are stupid. They think that animals have more rights than humans, so they are against hunters, and all we stand for.

Misunderstanding. There are a few Buddhists, for instance, who will not swat a mosquito on moral grounds, but most just don't understand hunting, and many of them tend to anthropomorphosis, thinking deer act like they do in "Bambi," and really don't know themselves why they are anti-hunting.

Because some people are limp wristed, lily livered liberal p**sies who couldn't survive on their own in the wilderness for more than five minutes! Ask one of these people where their last meal originated and they will tell you "the grocery store".
