There are still many around, apparently. I am one who has no problem expressing my faith. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, verbal expressions of faith is at the heart of what I do.
As for others who think of themselves as Christian, these are definitley a diminishing breed. In Scotland, the principle church is thought to be threatened with extinction within the next few decades. Churches built for hundreds seem to draw only a few dozen at the most, many are closed and left derelict or demolished. If they are not careful, they will be gone from all but their heartlands, that's a very real risk.

There are many Christians in the UK - but they are it seems to as a non-Christian they are the real christians - generally tolerant and respectful- not like the fanatics and preachers of hate in the US who hate hate hate anyone who isnt in their church/other religions - though sadly in the UK we follow everything the US does so who knows what it will be like in 10 years or so
Generally the UK is very secular though their are places like Northern ireland and parts of scotland where there is alot of hatred between Catholics and Protestants
They dont have to apologise for their faith -some right wing zionist newpapers try and pretend that members of otehr religions (usually Muslims ) dont want Christians to celebrate or practise their religion - but this is a lie used to stir up hatred against muslims -

I couldn't go to church on a Sunday even if I wanted to because our local buses do not run in my suburb in Peterborough (Cambridgeshire) on a Sunday as a cost cutting venture - So if this is the norm elsewhere no wonder there are no Christians to be seen and the churches are getting few and fewer people in them. Put some of the blame on your local councils who are frightened of offending the minority religions. They forget that the Official religion of Britain is Christianity and that only 2% of the population in the UK are Muslim.

to be honest this is now a secular country christians do exist but only as one of a number of faiths. i dont think thats a bad thing though a lot of people have died in the uk becuse of the religous beleifs of Bloody mary Elizabeth the first and charles the first. let all be free to worship what they want. you shouldnt have to apoligize for being a christian. but i dont think its part of what the uk is about

I feel the Uk is becoming multi cultural and more accepting of others
even the churches are open to other faiths
and its all wonderful
they dont have to appologise nor do i think they are doing so
they are quiet within their community with respect to others ... and others are with them
i find this way works best for all concerned .... and hope more follow suit

It's just the opposite in the U.S.
No politician would openly admit to being an atheist, and the sole Muslim in our congress is causing an uproar among one of our political parties.

It mainly because Christianity is no longer the main religion of this country I think. I'm not saying that is a bad thing - but I think that is why you don't hear about it so much
