For winter weddings, I like silver, white and plenty of ice. A nice ice sculpture at the reception would be wonderful. Keep the lighting soft. Candles, silvery glittery ting ting, very winter wonderland. If you haven't picked bridesmaids dresses yet, I think a nice gray with big rhinestone jewelry would be nice. Maybe a 1940's glam feel with the bridesmaids, the gray/silver dresses with rhinestone jewlery with bright red lipstick. If you like fur or faux fur, they could carry fur (faux fur) white muffs instead of flowers. Your flowers could be amaryllias ( I don't think I spelled that right),paperwhites, and maybe some cedar for greenery or silver ting ting and forget greenery. If I were doing a winter wedding, I think it would be a nighttime wedding so that it would be more formal. Keep things simple but very chic. Congratulations, Good Luck, and Happy 2007!

I think your question needs a little clarification. I also think that other poster was right about December not being the best month. There is already so much going on that it seems like you're going to be overwhelmed. Besides later on during anniversary time the quality of your presents will suffer when they compete with Christmas. Probably after a while you'll even combine them. Maybe that's the real reason so many people get married in late spring or early summer. Don't go for the cruise option if you want a lot of guests, we looked at that and it was a royal pain. Even gifts that people bring might be subject to customs regulations when you bring them back in. Put together a binder and organize it. Don't go crazy with idiotic details like having white swans walking around or the perfect seat embellishments. KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) is the way to go - remember you want to enjoy the day with your family not be exhausted from visiting with 500 guests. There is another benefit to KISS - it will usually end up being more tasteful. Keep your dress white and your maids a soft pastel color. Keep the groom and his guys in black tuxedos. Go traditional - you can't go wrong that way. Don't let your parents take over - THIS DAY BELONGS TO YOU AND YOUR FUTURE HUSBAND AND EVERYBODY ELSE MUST BE OF A SECONDARY CONSIDERATION! Remember its about you two and starting your life together and not what everyone else wants or what soand so had at her wedding or heaven help you if your trying to out-do the Jonese. With your parents, if you feel that they are crossing the line, then stand your ground - lovingly. Don't get a pushy photographer. He may be an artist but he works for you - remind him on that. Don't let them push you around. They will try to get the best pictures at your expense and can leave you pretty pissed off. Check with local country clubs for the reception - they can do a great job for that and ask about people that they have worked with in the past as a guide. These people live and die by word of mouth - if they screw up your wedding word will get around and it will cost them. Don't spend the entire budget on the wedding, the honeymoon lasts longer. If this whole thing is going to bust you or put you in debt then THINK SMALLER - its a real bad way to start off and I've seen it ruin a lot of marriages. Remember KISS and to kiss when its all done. GOOD LUCK!

If you are in cold weather - the bridesmaids would look good in green (Christmas color) velvet with the old fashion white muffs.
Warmer weather the green satin with white flowers sprinkled with glitter. Keep with wintry theme by do everything with touches of glitter. Use large tree branches painted white then glittered with tiny lites like small tress at your reception - and just keep going with the white theme but be sure to put some of the green on say as in tablecloths. have fun

I have a cousin who is getting married in December and his fiance is planning light blue dresses and white roses and snowflakes I think.

I would do light green with maybe an arrangment of small white flowers with pine branchs then you could have pine cones on each table sprinkled with white glitter(to look like snow) and maybe if you can get some people together you could have them make snowflakes out of paper?(thinking...maybe not) Your favor to them could be pine cones with bird seed and peanut butter that they can hang up to feed the birds for winter. That could be really cheap (no pun intended) pick up pine cones through out the summer for the decoration. Your cake could be three layers one right on top of the next with 1 inch. green ribbon to match the dresses around the bottom of each layer, decorated with royal icing snowflakes or hearts, or a present wraped in ribbon, your guest could have pine tree shaped sugar cookies with green icing and some white crystal sprinkles. On your gift table you could have a evergreen tree with a white and silver tree skirt, your card box could be a box wrapped as a present with silver paper. I am going to be a wedding planner, I have seen lots of weddings. If I was you, in december, I would have a white and red wedding, roses, those colors, and christmas tied into that also, and i dont know if its just me but i love christmas music when preformed by instruments, it does something to me, lol, so i'd have that, with very romantic candle light, and maybe for your first dance, get one of those snow projectors and have a dimly lit room, so it would be very romantic, and i'd have fake snow down the isle runners, with very rich red petals sprinkled about, have snowflakes as your deco theme, i can see it. ah.

There is a television show that comes on the STYLE channel that's call "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway," watch that. It will help you to get some ideas. You can also search the web for ideas. Just type in wedding ideas or weddings and it should help.

My best friend got married December of this year....everything was red and silver and twinkle lights.

If you celebrate Christmas I would work that into it....why not use a winter theme? You could have silver and white as your colors. It would be really pretty.
