i want to adopt from romania because there are not enough adoptive parents out there, and there are plenty here. i already have 2 children of my own and would love to give a home to 1 of the many instatutionalized children there.

Even now that Romania has joined the EU, it is still ILLEGAL for foreign citizens (including those of EU member states) to adopt children born in Romania. If someone has suggested you that you could adopt, or that they could arrange it, those people may be a part if child-smuggling ring - so take care.

As for the "institutionalized children" .... you should stop believing everything you see on TV, especially "investigations" paid for by some <> organizations that used to make lots of money from intermediating Romanian adoptions , and are now desperately pushing to get their child traffic back..

May I ask why you can't give a child here a home rather than taking another child from it's country of birth?

I would expect it to be just as, if not more difficult to adopt from romania than the UK.

Sorry, but you can not adopt any child from Romania, yet.International adoptions are still banned by the EU,because many illegal adoptions have been discovered. So if you want to adopt a child from here you would have to wait a bit longer until this ban is lifted...

To be honest I don't think this is a good idea. I have saw programs on these babies and the long term damage done to these kids is unbeleivable. Even though they are still kids they are mentally scared for life...........you may be biting off more than you can chew.

Think of your other kids too.

i would contact your local social services. they may be able to offer advice on a reputable agencies and what formalities there may be.
i really wouldn't trust any websites you find unless they have been recommended by the British authorities
good luck
