The size will be as up to the size of the larger parent. But if the bltch is the larger dog the pup may slightly exceed her size. How much food depends on how much exercise you give it. Try a can of dog food and 3 handfuls of meal but you may have to go up. Shepherds make good guard dogs but the Retriever element in the mix may have a somewhat adverse effect. I think he will be a great dog, hopefully having the trainability of a Shepherd and the good natured playfulness of the Retriever, which hopefully will make it good with kids. When he is old you may need to watch his weight as Retrievers sometimes run to fat if they become sedentary. He can live out, as long as he has some shelter, kennel, shed, etc. Shepherds can display dominance aggression so watch that, train him to walk to heal, never let him go through a door first and never let him sit on the sofa or your bed. Always feed him after you eat, these actions will re-enforce your dominance.

Research both the Golden Retriever and the German Shepherd. Since it is a mix the dog could have traits from one or both. Weight for a Golden is 55 to 75 pounds and weight for a Shepherd is around 60 to 90 pounds so your dog will be somewhere within the weight of 55 to 90 pounds. Any dog can be good with children it is a matter of how the dog is trained and socialized. Shepherds are good watch dogs but Golden's usually are not, you have a mix so I do not know. As for feeding buy a good quality ADULT food and follow the feeding recommendation on th bag for feeding. Dogs should not be left outside in freezing weather. Do some research and most questions you have will be answered.

Every dog is different, but we have a golden/german shepherd cross and he is wonderful and always has been. He weighs about 95 lbs. He's 13 now, but when he was younger he was energetic, but calm around kids and adults, very gentile, loved to swim, and VERY smart. Do not leave your dog outside all the time--that's just asking for problems--he needs to feel like he is part of the pack (you and your family). Also, invest in some doggie training classes, this will help with his behavior and help to ensure he's good with kids. As for feeding, I would suggest you take him to the vet and see how old he is and what food your vet recommends. There are many good brands out there and the amount you feed varies with each food. He should also get started on his shots so that he doesn't contract parvo or another disease.

Golden Retrievers can be one of the most amazing breeds in the world. They are one of America's favorite dogs. They are very popular family dogs because of their good nature with children and other pets. They are active witch suits an "on the go" family's lifestyle. They are also the 3rd easiest breed to train. Golden Retrievers love water, outdoors, play, and just laying on your bed at night. They are definitely a great companion. However, they are not always "just a pet". Golden Retrievers were bred to hunt. They are still used today in hunting water fowl. Another great attribute of the Golden is that they are used by many different agencies around the world. They are given many jobs such as drug sniffing dogs, service dogs, and therapy dogs. If you are looking for an attack dog or something of that sort well I guess this breed doesn't fit you. And that's too bad.

First of all I would like to say congratulations on your new pet and I know you are excited to learn and grow with your new pet, so was I when I got my German Shepherd Mixed with St. Bernard. I can tell you a little bit about my dog's personality and maybe you will be able to relate because you have a German Shepherd mix also. Well, my dog weighs about 85 lbs, I think it comes from her St. Bernard roots. She is a very good guard dog and very smart. She is very loyal and playful and she loves children. Expect your puppy to grow into a large dog. As far as feeding him , it is suggested to feed puppies three times a day and serve them the suggested serving amount according to their weight. I think you should at least put her in the garage if you have one, only if you don't like pets in your home. It is too cold for puppies in the winter you should wait at least until he is an adult dog. I think it woulld hellp if you reasearch a little bit more about the breeds either through the internet, books and magazine's maybe you'll run into some great training tips as well. Good luck!

Sounds like a great mix! Golden retievers are super smart and sweet. German shepherds are too! Probably will be a good "watch" dog. I think he will be a great companion, probably will be between 80 and 110 pounds - depends on his parents. and will also probably be good to children as long as the kids know to be kind to him - golden retrievers love kids. He can probably withstand cold temperatures as long as he has his own warm dog house, but I think all dogs should be inside with their families, not left outside. I trained my best dog by reading and following the instructions of the book called "NO BAD DOGS" by Barbara Woodhouse.

A well-trained dog makes everyone happy, including his owner. Take a little time training him, and you'll never regret it; you'll always have an obedient dog by your side. Find more https://tr.im/cbcix
By their nature, dogs are pack animals with a well-defined social order. Through basic training, you need to consistently make sure your puppy understands that you are the leader, not him. So in teaching him the basic rules, you take on the role of pack leader.
To fit into the family circle, your dog must be taught to recognize his name and such commands as come, heel, lie down and sit.

Go to AKC.org and look up the breed standard. It is a mutt so you might get more unwanted charictoristics then preferd.
