If you like their work, I'd say just like you tip waiters, like 15%-16%. But when I really like the service, I go 20%.
So basically $2-3.

Depends- if you're going to the barber shop, then slip him a couple bucks. While you're there, see what the guy in the next chair over is giving the barber next to your barber. You don't have to give him as much as a salon, because you're not going to get a shampoo and blow dry. An itchy shirt for the rest of the day! Go to a salon, wouldn't you want to have a girl cut your hair- it's much better!

My haircuts are eight bucks, which I think is too little to charge for a haircut not to expect a generous tip. I usually leave a fiver, but then again I'm also friends with some of this lady's friends, so I feel the need to tip more handsomely.
In any case, treat your haircutter with respect. They can and will screw your head up!

Tips all tips are based on a percent of your bill so
14.30 10%
14.95 15%
15.34-18%
However, if you want you can give more this is just a starting point. Then always remember to give him something for special events:Christmas, birthday, etc. I often offer to run errors, or just show up with lunch. You know just what you when you want to make someone know they are loved and thought about.

Three to four for a good haircut. For a really good haircut or for a really cute hairdresser (if you get a woman)...go Five or six.

Hairstylists at beauty salons and barbershops should be tipped 15% of the bill; those who shampoo your hair get $1.00 to $2.00. If more than one person provides services, for example one doing color and another cutting your hair, tip each person 10%-15% of their portion of the bill.
