My boyfriend told me at the last minute that he had to go home and take care of family issues during the New Year. I had made plans for us, but figured that his family is more important. He left on Friday and sent me a text message early Saturday morning to let me know he made it. He sent me one other text messages, and I didn't hear from him again (by phone) until today. I even sent him three txt messages and called four times since Friday. He tells me that they have bad signals out where he is, but I feel like that shouldn't matter he could have bought a phone card before he left just so he could have said Happy New Years to me or kept in contact. And when he tells me he went out New Years Eve I get more upset, why couldn't he call before he went out or when he got in? So, besides spending New Years alone, I didn't hear from him either. He finally called today, but right now I don't feel like talking to him or even hearing his excuses. Am I overreacting? Should I listen?

Last year I was deployed. We didn't get to spend any of the holidays together. I was really looking forward to ringing in the new year this time. He didn't tell me what the "issues" are and that's kinda bothering me too. We've been together for about 2yrs now and it's like he's still got "secrets."

i hate to be the one to tell you this, but it's hard as hell to call your gf when you're out with another girl...he said he had family problems, but it sounds like he only had a problem with being with you...i would never let my gf go that long without hearing from me, even if i was in jail...he really has a lot to learn...i think you should start teaching him...

If you don't know what the "family issues" are, you don't know what he could be going through. I definately suggest hearing him out, ask him if everything is alright.
Don't think too much of it, it's only been a couple of days. Hope you get everything straightened out.

I would be pissed. Especially if he went out New Years Eve. If my GF did that I would be pretty angry. At the every least he could have wished u a Happy New Year.

His behavior is somewhat unreasonable. Has he acted this way before? You have a right to be upset. If this is/was a one time event then maybe you can let it go. If not, then it's time to look elsewhere for a new BF.

Always listen but he should understand why you are upset. No one likes spending new years home alone. Tell him how you felt and let him make it up to you.

How far away is he from you? What is the phone number of the family? Have you met the family he is visiting? I would think of those and then go from there.

I think you should listen. Maybe he was telling the truth. You won't know until you listen to what he has to say. You know some guys don't think, they just react. Give him a chance.

OMG....My boyfriend is doing the same thing to me...Girl i've been with this guy for almost five years and he started doing that stuff to me for the last 2 years. My opinion would be don't trip for now hear wut he has to say...But let him know that wut he did wasn't rite. From my own experience once they start with this bullshit that hes pulling with you it doesnt stop... is this the first time hes done this to you?
For some reason guys think its ok to be an ***.........
