What would I need to do to be able to watch the US DVDs there? Just bring a player? Thanks.

Not entirely correct. Whether or not you are able to play DVDs depends on your player's region coding. Some DVD players are region free or can be set to region free, so you pretty much can play DVDs from any region. I bought my player here in Australia (Pioneer) and it is region free.

yes, dvds have regiin codes, so you can only play them on dvd players coded for the US.
