Actually they fixed this problem a while ago. Both hot dogs and buns come in eights now.

I might sound a little paranoid after this, but here is my conspiracy theory on this:
It's the Wonder Bread company. They have been funding the Republicans for years and now they are worried about being exposed. In 2007 their standard will change with the incoming Democratic Congress to a 10 bun standard pack for the exact same fee. The additional funds we used to pay for our 2 missing buns will no longer go to spread the Republican word. Just my thoughts.
Oh, by the way. I'm just kidding.

I usually make 2 double hot dogs and use up all the bun and all the dogs. Put a slice of cheese between the 2 warm hot dogs and let it melt into the single bun and they will stay in place. Top with mustard, onions and relish and your good to go!

The 2 extra are, one for the cook and one for the dog that's waiting for the cook to drop one. Sometimes kids don't like Hot Dogs with buns, to young to "grasp" the concept. Here's another, Marketing, everything in the food industry is manufactered by weight

It indeed is a conspiracy co-formulated by the Hot Dog & Bun experts to get you to continuously purchase more dogs... then more buns... then more dogs... soon you will be eating ONLY hotdogs... Do you know what they PUT in hotdogs???? Research that and you will never have to worry about the extra two anymore!!!

It's a masonic conspiracy!!! Actually, i think that Nathan's and Hebrew National sell their hot dogs in packs of 8. At last, a matched set! One dog for every bun.

It's called marketing. If enough people boycotted or complained to the companies about it, I'll bet we could force a change....until then, we make due with more buns than dogs or more dogs than buns....this kind of stuff really 'lights my fire' also! note* 'Hebrew' makes dogs that are 8 in a pkg, I think.

One of the great mysteries of life...
haha Heres a few ideas:
Create a compost pile and throw the extra hotdogs in.
Eat the hot dogs with normal bread (tastes just as good to me)
