Personally, I think the chance of getting the wallet back with the money still in it is better than not. I truly think more people are honest than dishonest so I surely hope one of the majority picks it up! Oh, and yes, I'd give it back fully intact. Good luck.

I would definitely return a wallet in--money and everything. It's awful to lose something like that, especially with that amount of money, not to mention driver's license and credit cards. I would still be optimistic, but in the worst situation, I'd even be happy just getting the wallet back with all my personal stuff still there. Good luck, and I hope someone returns it without taking anything.

Someone walked on my street where I had dropped a hundred dollar bill -- she knocked on all of the closest doors and found me and returned it. She was a nun.
I would do the same, though I am not close to being a nun.
Cash is a temptation for folks, so easy to think of it as a gift from heaven (especially when it just floats in front of you) unlike a wallet with so much identifying information.
Identity theft is really hard to deal with -- so I think he should let go of his faith in the good of people and cancel his credit cards and put a watch alert out on his credit so that someone doesn't ruin his New Year any further..,

I would return the wallet - but since it's been a few days, I'm guessing the finder decided not to return the wallet. No one should carry a lot of money around these days - credit cards are the way to go... good luck though!

Yes I would.
I have lost my wallet twice in my life. Once I got the wallet back without the money, the gardner for the apt. found it in the bushes 6 months later & returned it.
Then another time, I was at a shoping mall, droped it in the parking lot, by the time I got home, someone had left a message that they found it, money & all returned to me. After that I began to carry a purse.
I believe that what comes around goes around.

Yes, I'd return it. I've found 3 purses in shopping carts (which were left in the parking lot) over the years and returned every one to the store's courtesy counter (intact). It might be a good idea if he gets a magnetic money clip and keeps his cash in that in his front pocket. Wallets can easily be stolen or left somewhere. Once I had my cell phone found by someone who then proceeded to run up hundreds of calls on it.

There are some people in the world that would return the cash, but those are few. Personally, I would return the wallet, because my conscience would get me, and I would feel really bad about keeping someone's wallet.

Being overly optimistic is one thing; taking a rational thought about the circumstances would tell most folks that the $300 won't be returned along with any credit cards and I.D.
I'd return such money lost, but everyone doesn't have the same values that I try to follow.

I would return the wallet. It wasn't mine and neither was the money.
I would hope that if someone found my wallet, it would be returned to me as well.
