An old friend of mine used to train police dogs. His suggestion was that when the dog goes to jump up on you raise your knee so that when he does jump up it hits him in the chest and at the same time say "down" or "no". It has worked on 2 of my previous dogs (now I am too old to raise my knee :(.

A family I know who got a dog(who had a jumping up on people problem) used the method of squeezing the dogs paws and when it jumped up on them and saying NO. They say it works...
I personally love the squirt bottle. Its great for any bad behavior. I good squirt of water strait to the nose and a firm NO when being bad, and they are off. And, it doesn't hurt them!
Also, try putting popcorn kernels, or change, screws, or whatever in a pop can, tape the top, and shake it whenever the dog is doing something unacceptable(works great for barking too). They can't stand the loud noise and will stop what they are doing.
Good luck! :)

When the dog jumps up on you make a naisley noise do not say "NO" as the dog hears it all the time. Turn your back don't give him the attention that he wants when he sits down then give him attention. Make sure that you tell all your friends who come over that your training your dog not to jump and explain to them what they need to do if he jumps on them. This will enforce your training. Be patient this will take a while but he will learn

Thats when leash training comes in handy. When someone rings the door bell put his leash on and when you open the door and he goes to jump pull but not too hard and say no. If you keep this up he will learn that its a no-no to jump on people.

For a smaller dog, telling them no and pushing them back down, or blocking them with your hand, works. But for a husky, the knee-to-the-chest method really is best.

Well I grew up on a farm and when our dogs would jump up on people my dad would just push the dog over, If that is to mean for you try using two fingers and taping him firmly on the nose. That what I always did and it worked.

If your dog is younger than 2 years old, you shouldn't be asking this question. But, you can train them to stay while they are in a sitting or laying postion, or, you can scold them if they get hyper, (you know, sternly say calm down while holding them, and say bad dog) (Don't yell or spank them)

when dogs meet a new person they like to jump on them but you could train him to sit so that if someone is coming you just use the way you taught him and he wont jump

I let mine jump up to talk to me a lot but when its not time I tell them to get down. That simple. They get down and go do their own thing.

I just came accross this piece of information and thought that it might help you. I have not tried it with my dogs because I don't have those problems, but maybe you can use it:
