I want to help her understand, but not give her too much info, about how her baby brother or sister will be born. Do you know of any helpful books and or websites we could visit?

She already know how babys are made and the names of the private area body parts. She really wants to know how a baby can come out of her private area. She says that there is no way a baby can come out of something so small.
I have searched the internet and have asked at book stores but, nothing seems proper for her age. Either its too grown up for a 9yo or its too general.

If she's 9 years old and doesn't really know, then congratulations! The school and friends are not as bad as we all think they are...

The only suggestion I've heard is that you just give them a little information, don't get into any detail unless they ask about it. Say " the baby grows in mom's stomach until it's time for it to come out. Then I go to the hospital and the doctors help it come out." Don't tell her exactly how unless she asks - then, stuff like "That's the difference between boys and girls, or men and women. When you're an adult, a woman has a place for babies to grow, and a place for them to come out." And so on. I keep thinking I sound like that's talk for a 5yo, not a 9yo.

Just be careful how you word it, so she doesn't think it's something horrible that could happen to her any time if some boy touches her. She'll probably hear all kinds of stories anyway about how horrible labour is and what could go wrong.

I know one girl who went through early puberty (breast development started at 8yo) and between what her mom explained about menstruation and what she heard from misinformed friends, she says she was afraid for a year that she was going to start bleeding any time and could bleed to death.

When a Mommy and a Daddy love each other very much , sometimes a baby starts to grow inside the mommy.
Daddy and I are so excited that I have one growing inside me right now ! As women we are so special to be able to have babies.
The baby will fit through my private parts and come out to live with our family soon.
I know you will be a great big sister and help me out a lot. What are some things new babies can do?.........Conversation.......

She is old enough to hear the word VaginA and there must be some books in the library or book store about " Mommy is having a baby "
Congrats and good luck.

I think you should just tell her. Yea its an awkward discussion but it is a way of life. Its better to teach a child young so she will understand instead on hearing it from another child who knows even less. First impressions of a subject stick with you at that age. So be strait. There is nothing wrong with teaching a child young. Just make sure that you explain to her that it is something adults do not children.

If she's asking, she is old enough to handle the answer. If she really can't believe that the "private area" can stretch that much, show her some pictures. She'll believe it. If you really don't feel that's appropriate, then tell her she has just gotta trust you. :)

Just say that the new baby was made by mummy and daddy. The doctors will help get the baby from mummy.

I'd explain the egg being fertilized and growing - but now quite how it gets fertilized, unless she asks. If she does ask, say that Daddy (whoever) gives mommy some of his cells, and they mix with one of mine, and that makes the baby start growing.
