i have a video file that is hdtv resolution its like 720x1000 something you guys should know =]. and it is a .wmv file. i was wondering how to burn the file onto a dvd and be able to watch it on my dvd player and still retain its resolution. I tried using 2 softwares. dvdsanta and imTOO dvd maker or something. Neither of them could read the file. But if i use vlc media player or just the windows media player it reads it fine. Can anyone help me please?
Also i tried to burn it directly on a dvd disc and it wouldnt work with nero or the windows burning that comes with the comp. If i cant burn it to play on a dvd disc with the same resolution its okay. thanks =]

This is, of course, impossible. DVD format Mpegs are 480p, meaning they have 480 lines of data. HD-DVD and BluRay are up to 1080p (iirc), but that's irrelevant here. Your file will need to be converted before being able to be stored as a DVD video file.

First off, you need to convert it to Mpeg. I use TMpgEnc, it's free and fairly fast. However, it takes AVI as its input.. There are several WMV to AVI converters out there. take a look.

Second, you'll have to resize the video... Luckily, TMpgEnc can do this for you along the way.

Then Nero or whatever ought to be able to burn a DVD with the video on it.
