Call the authorities on this man before it gets worse. It can start with a fork to brand the child, then knocking the kid out. Your an adult, you need to call the police or children's aid. Don't remain quiet, you may be this childs only voice. :)

Call the local Child Protective Services. This is classified as cruel and unusual punishment, and it needs to be reported. You can report abuse anonymously, if you wish. Any time that marks are left on a child, it is not ok. Just because his father did it to him, does not make it ok to continue the cycle. He needs some new discipline techniques to use, and CPS can offer trained personel to come to his home and set up parenting classes.

Call the police NOW!!! As an adult who knows about the abuse, it is your responsibility to act. The child cannot protect herself...that is what adults are for.

You can be anonomous, if it makes you feel better.

i agree this is child abuse, not discipline. how sad. i would report this. i know you probably feel badly about reporting it but it is in the child's best interest. maybe you should tell someone at the child's school. (i'm assuming your children go to school together) maybe they have seen other signs of abuse or neglect.

By law you are required to call the police. If you see child abuse, you must report it
