If you make it yourself you can do it for about £10 for 4 people from scratch with no spices in your cupboard. Then you will have the spice available for the next time. If you are going to start cooking curries, I recommend you get coriander, cumin and tumeric to start. East End spices do these ready ground. Buy your spices from an indian corner shop as they are the cheapest and best. Also get fresh coriander from there.
My favourite is chicken, so you start with chopped onion, fry this and add some garlic and freshly finely chopped ginger. Then add the spices - a tablespoon of cumin and coriander and 2 teaspoons of tumeric - and cook for a couple of minutes. Then add a tin of chopped tomatoes and stir through. Get the heat up, add some water now add the chicken - breast or thighs but the thighs are cheap and real good meat. And let this cook for at least half an hour with a cover on, stirring occasionally. To serve add a bit of yoghurt. Mmm!
