Assuming they are at room temperature to start (best way to cook beef. Don't cook cold meat)

For rare on High Broil for 3 minutes per side
For Med-rare on High Broil for 3.5 minutes per side
For anything other than that, I can't help you because nice rib eye steaks shouldn't be over cooked.

Don't forget to let them sit on the cutting board for about 5 minutes before you cut or serve them. Let's the juices get back to the middle of your steak.

Enjoy!

Broil it!! I'm going out on a limb here, you probably broiled it on the center oven rack. You need to move your oven rack to place the steak about three to four inches from the broiler element. 8 minutes on each side should be more than enough. I only cook london broil (top round) for 7 each side, and it gets to almost medium rare. If you have a cast iron skillet throw it in the oven while you preheat the broiler. Once it gets good and hot remove the skillet with a pot holder, drop in the steak, and back in the oven. cook for four minutes and flip, four more and flip, until you have 8 minutes on each side. If you don't have a skillet, well do the same thing but directly on the oven rack with a cookie sheet or roasting pan on the lower rack to catch the drippings and keep them from dirtying your oven.

If you want it med-rare the way I like it then about 4-5 minutes on each side should do it. Preheat the broiler first. You may want to add some peppercorns or some steak sauce for more flavor as well.

I'd give it no more than 5 minutes on each side. The general rule is 8-10 minutes per inch. Don't forget the salt and pepper! (A little rub of butter is great, too.)

At that thickness, you can also quickly pan fry or saute them, about 4 minutes on each side for medium, and get nice color and flavor without over-cooking them.

It depends on how well done you want them. I'd broil them about 3 minutes per side then cut one open to see if it's to your liking.

It will depend on how done you want them. I'd say ~4 mins per side for medium.

You can check doe done-ness by feel: if the steaks are soft like the meaty part of your thumb, they're still rare. As they cook further, the meat will tighten-up.

Sounds good. So I would have to say grill them do not broil. Grilled at 6 min a side on a medium low heat will give u a nice medium rare.

Depends on the heat of the broiler and how done you want them. For medium-rare at 500F about 5 min per side.

I usually fry them in a very hot skillet with a tad of olive oil and butter or margarine. 8 minutes each side

Grill them the same just spray the grill so they don't stick.
