If your asking about a Microsoft developed product, then they have never had a first product. All Microsoft products have been purchased from other developers up to and including the OS kernel base for the NT/2k/XP/Vista project. DOS, purchased, Word, Excel, Access, etc, etc. All purchased.

Depends on when you consider Microsoft to have begun. Did it begin when it was incorporated? Then it was Xenix, a Unix variant bought from AT&T. Was it when Gates and Allen started working together? Then it was a BASIC interpreter for the Altair 8800, called (surprisingly) Altair BASIC.
