well - you have to use a cleaning casette when the sign appears, and only

Heads often get dirty from bad tapes where the oxide is starting to shed from the acetate (tape). Often, you can clean the heads by running the tape in reverse scan (tape engaged to heads) for 10-15 seconds. You might have to do it a couple of times and it's less abrasive than a cleaning tape. If that doesn't work, I would always opt for a professional cleaning with appropriate swabs and solvent (DO NOT try this at home; it's very easy to wreck a set of heads). Of course you always have the option of using a cleaning tape. Good luck!

You dont have to clean your camera only when CLEANING CASSETTE appears. Whenever you feel your heads are dirty, clean them. The camera show it to you to help remind you to clean them. Stick in a cleaning tape and run it for about 10 seconds, and repeat if necessary. Hope this helps!
