The bible is a book full of hate and bigotry. Many "Christians" use the bible as justification to spread hate and bigotry and teach it to their children.

As best I can remember, Matthew 7:1-5 is the only place where "hypocrites" are instructed to "Judge not." Elsewhere in the bible, judging others (and hating, excluding, and punishing them) is frankly encouraged. As such, many fundamentalists consider it their duty to judge others...that they seem to enjoy it so much is just an unexpected bonus.
Bottom line: the bible is filled with good things and good ideas, but there's a lot of rotten stuff there, too. What you want from it is basically what you get. This is why it can be used to justify virtually any behavior, both good and bad.

It's not a sin to judge. People only say it is when they are the one's being Judged. The only phrase that even resembles that, doesn't say it's a sin at all.... "Judge not lest you be judged by the same measure you give out". And it's better translated as "Condemn not lest you be condemned by the same measure you give out".
So, all of those who use the Bible to judge others, will be judged, by their own God, with the Bible and in the same way they have judged others... according to that verse. You would think that would make some stop and re-think what they are doing with this book they claim God inspired.

They are misguided. Basically (to Christ Followers) the Bible is a guide to how we should all act. Many "Christians" get hung up on the idea of trying to live thier lives "right" and believe that it is thier responsibilty to encourage others to do the same. They often times quote bible verses to substantiate their arguements. In a lot of, unfortunate, cases people will use verses from the bible to persecute people for things they view as wrong.
Personally I am a Christ Follower, and while I try my best to follow what the Bible says for me to do, but sometimes I miss the mark, so who am I to judge. IMHO god will sort us all out when we go home.

People who actually read the Bible see that you are not supposed to judge others, and that the Bible is full of ways to live your own life better. People who only go to church are the ones who criticize people for not living as they feel a Christian should.
People who criticize non-christians for their sins are putting the cart before the horse--you can't tell a non-christian something is wrong because the Bible says so, you must let them be convinced of their own sin and then show them the way to be forgiven of their sins.

Christians cite the bible for the baffoons on here who think they can quote it and contradict the quotes. Most christians or the logical ones, do not judge. The bible does not encourage it either. Back up your future questions with sources.

The Bible doesn't say judging is a sin. The only type of judgment that Jesus condemned was hypocritical judgment. We are commanded to discern things that people do & teach. And discernment requires judgment. You exercise this every day. Do you just believe everything everyone tells you? Or, do you judge what they say by examining it? Is that type of judgment wrong? Of course not. If it were, we'd all be at the mercy of everyone else's opinionated rhetoric.

It might help if you seriously studied the bible rather than trying to find verses that you hope will get you off the accountability for you own actions hook. That being said there are different types of judgment in the bible. It is not my place to judge a persons moral worth. Or to condemn them to hell. God alone knows who is saved and who isn't. Which is why Jesus said allot of people are going to be suprised by who is heaven. God alone knows what is going on in a mans heart and what causes brought them to that place. If he he truly a just and righteous judge as he declares himself then we need only clean up our own side of the street.

The way I see it you have a couple options; Our Father WILL give you the ability to recognize all that is evil (large and small).
When you recognize it, hold tight to that Christ like image you have created for yourself. What would He do in this situation. He would most certainly be compassionate and He would also refuse any temptations this evil is causing you.
Sometimes you may come across something that is too evil. Remember you have given up all your stereotypes by now because those were evil within you. I don't know how to explain too evil, but I trust you will be able to recognize it as I do. Turn away from it. Unless our Father has asked you to confront it, and given you the ability to do so, just stay go away from it.

for any society to exist, it is appropriate for people to judge the actions and deeds of others. And this is what the bible encourages. Judging the essence of a person, however, is quite a different matter.

Hey, hey , hey (Big Albert tone of voice)
Remove Paul's personal letters (books of the Bible) and you will see that the Bible does not encourage judging others.
Bubba preachers love to quote Paul, because he was a heck of a good empire builder. He said anything and everything to get Gentiles to join his church.
Jesus said it best, "Forgive others when they make a mistake; if you do not forgive others, your father in Heaven will not forgive you."
