I do not think people with nothing to lose are failures. I think it means in certain situations it's better to take the risk because in the end it's more beneficial than not.

do u not have parents? siblings? a home? posessions? money? friends? clothes?

no. there have been times that i've had nothing to lose either, but that changes. unless you're about to die, you haven't failed yet.
