They'll get along in time, remember your lab is just a puppy still! One important thing to do is practice your dog's obedience around the cats and often on a leash. He needs to know he always has to listen even when the cats are around. Next it is absolutely essential that your cats have places to get away from your dog! Cat towers are excellent for this. If you can't afford one go this route. Get scrap 2x4 planks, carpet remnants and sturdy brackets. Attach the carpet to the planks with a staple gun or glue, bolt them to the brackets and then bolt them to the wall in any configuration you want. An instant cat tower. They can be removed later and the holes covered in putty and touch up paint.
Also you can move furniture a few inches from the wall etc, to make places for the cats to dart behind. Your cats will be much happier and confident if they have lots of places to escape the dog.
Good luck!

My dog also chases my cat, but they do get a long. It's a game to them, but they lick and play calmly together as well. Call your vet and see if he recommends a behavior class for the pooch. But, if your cats are like mine, they instigate most of it, maybe without you knowing it. The only thing that has worked somewhat for me is when I see Java start to get that, "i'm gonna get you look" to Rapids, I firmly say NO, and put my hand on her and she'll watch the cat go from wherever to wherever! Good Luck

They are probably already getting on you don't need to worry if the cats don't want to be chased then they wont let the dog bother them a few scratches on the nose and the dog will know its place. They are just keeping themselves entertained

they may never get along. It is natural for the dog to chase cats or any animal. If they would have been socialized at an early age they would get along. And if your dog still chased them it probaly would be for play.

They will get along better when you ship the cats to another country.

Once he gets slapped/clawed a few times by the kitties he will think twice about chasing them. I'd say don't interfere too much.. they will get used to each other, just make sure that you don't let him hurt the kitties.
