my mom said that you never really own a cat a cat owns you well my cat comes to me when he is called so i was just wondering

If the people love cats then cats own the people.I am sure your cat loves you but, he comes to you because he wants to do it.

We never really own a animal, they are our companions. Most could choose not to stick around, but they do so because they are happy where they are at.
Some say cats think they own us because cats have their own way of doing things and at their own time, but not all cats are like that. Some actually interact more with their humans than some cats do.
I have two cats though that are great companions. When I come home, they great me at the door. If go upstairs, they usually come with me and like to be close to where I am. I'm treated like "family"
They also communcate their needs to me, all I have to do is listen. Usually they will stand in the area where they are meowing and that can tell me what their need is.

Dogs have owners. Cats on the other hand have people. This is my story . . . I went out and rescued a cat and she spent an entire day checking out her new digs and my surroundings. We hit it off very well and everything was peachy when I retired for the evening. About five months later, I experienced déjavù all over again and found myself owned by two rescued, spayed, unconditional love giving, claws intact, house cats . . . and I'm sticking to it. Well, in theory of course we believe that we are the owner of our cat or cats but the reality is that they really do own us. This is quite evident when they start feeling comfortable enough to start behaviors such as following you everywhere or ignoring you...wanting attention/affection or staying away until they are ready, no matter what you may do to entice and lastly but certainly not least you end up kind of molding your life around them and what they like/don't like. I once thought I owned my Bubba but it has become clear that he owns me....heart and soul. Thank You.

I think cats own people because they do whatever they want to and if the owner spoiles the cat (me) if that cat wants food u better give it to them or they wil just keep meowing for food like my cats do.

Well most ppl spoil their cats rotten they give them treats when-ever they want cats get the freedom to scratch up w/e they want and they can go potty where ever they please and the owners are happy to clean it up ppl do this b-cuz they love there cats so much they don`t care what they do but if you show your cat love but disapline then you own the cat if you show your cat that he/she can do what ever they want the cat owns you...good question :-)
