I want to build a subfloor and tile over a hole in my house. It used to be a fountain, but i have since taken it out, with a remaining hole and needs to be tiled. The hole is concrete. Should i build a subfloor platform, or just fill in with dirt, sand or more concrete to put the tile on top of? thanks.

It would be much safer to pack in the whole and then fill it with concrete.

sounds like no quick easy solution here, hire a contractor to do the work, get a few bids from builders/remodlers, check them out well, and have them do it, then it will be done right, and saftley.
