I have heard doctors say 2-3 years to completely regenerate the lungs after smoking.

I think I remember hearing in my college health class that your lungs BEGIN to heal something like 24 hours after you quit smoking. But I agree with the others, I think it takes something like 3-5 years to completely heal. But just think, every minute you're NOT smoking-- you're healing.

Depends on the amount of time you've been smoking, but usually within 9 months, though the difference can be felt within days since you're not keeping a "fresh" supply of tar in your lungs.

To be honest, they do not clean out completely unfortunately the damage starts as soon as the tar oozes out of your cigarettes and sits in the bottom of your lungs. They are like giant sponges, and it lines the sponge like tissues inside. But at least if you stop now you will make breathing that much easier and clearer. I stopped 13 years ago. but still wish I hadnt started in the beginning. Try using aids, don`t go on will power alone.

I'm not sure but for every cigarette you are not smoking you're doing good for your body. If this question is about you, congratulations!

They never completley clean out. That's why you should never start smoking.
