the sonic toothbrushes oscillate at a much higher speed.. ie they are doing more work for a given period of time
I did notice a big difference when I first started usign a sonic tootbhrush... it did seem to get my teeth cleaner (less residue felt smoother), they also seemd to become whiter over time.
Personally Id buy anothe sonic toothbrush.. I think the results are beter. However its up to you they are moire expensive (not just to buy but to get replacement Brush Heads.
The raelity is that you dont need an electric toothbrush, you can do a perfectly good enough job manually, however I do fidn the opnes with a timer (mine has 4 x 30 second timers) a good discipinbe to know how long to scrub your teeth.

The sonic one produces a high frequency sound wave that destroys bacteria in the mouth and also helps to remove other deposits of plaque etc. The normal one cleans mechanically, like scrubbing. The sonic ones are best. Don't buy one from sonicaire. They are expensive and destroy themselves just outside warranty. The sonic waves make the plastic brittle and the head brakes irreparably.
