Immunizing a child against the major preventable diseases costs just $17. What can UNICEF do to fund more immunizations?

Today's youth is under utilized and can be a wealth of help. Create a program for schools to use to create participation. Most larger cities have business classes in high school, why not create a program to teach children how to run a non-profit organization. The possibilities are endless with the creative minds of teenagers. And who knows, you might just find a new leader in your crusade for immunization funding.

Also capitalizing on youth... create a myspace page and challenge kids to raise funding. Again... the possibilities are endless.

The most important objective is to show that UNICEF is a serious and accountable organization. Splurging on advertisement campaigns wouldn't be necessary. It is important to realize that the American Psyche has been damaged, whether through corruption, lies, or scandals. Families in the United States have personal issues to resolve. They work hard to survive and would like to see donations make a difference. There are many existing problems right in the home country. The sum of $17 may just be a tiny amount to a celebrity, but a family in the US can hardly buy a can of soup with one dollar (a buck can do quite well in a foreign country).
UNICEF can work with companies that have a large audience. The partnership with Yahoo! is a good example. Perhaps the organization can do something with other commercial sites such as Amazon.
How about forming an alliance with other established nonprofits? Many organizations follow a common theme, to aid the suffering. Perhaps resources can be shared.

If there was something more that UNICEF could do, you would already be doing it, because UNICEF is so devoted to these causes. I think the little people are involved and so are the "fat cats" - and that includes you,Man, (& I respect you as an athlete & a person). All that is just not enough. UNICEF, you, me, we - all need to pressure World Leaders / Governments to make Immunization, (especially of children) an international/Global priority. The "Have" nations should be held accountable to the world's people to make "world immunization" a part of their bugeted expenditures. Then, we might start to eradicate preventable diseases in our lifetime. I've been involved with UNICEF for 50+ years - trick or treating for UNICEF as a child & working in an inadequately supplied plague hospital in South-east Asia. I've seen 1st hand what happens when governments don't care, (or get involved). Everybody can petition governments, (not just their own) to immunize every child before this year is over. Thanks, Elton. My prayers to you, UNICEF & THE CAUSE.

This Answer may sound satirical but I think there needs to be more information for the GP. I also love children, and this problem, has been asked Officially 3 times now. I am serious, and trying not to be sarcastic.
I happened to be reading charts on the wall of my own Dr.'s office last week, the charts for Immunizations. There were so many, and there are none that say "Get Your Children's Shots for $17.00 - One Type Fits All". Sorry, I had to grab someones attention. Demographics, Geographical Regions and Age, play a major role in developing vaccine(s) for them to be effective. So, consequently no one has come forth with enough detail, on this site, to get enough proper solutions. This is not an easy task. Yes, I realize this, and I'm sure many other people do too.
I visited the UNICEF statistic site map. There needs to be an advantageous way of approaching the solution on a Fact-Hand-Out Sheet, or Post that is Official, that shows who needs what and where, with Pictures/Cost/ and Sponsor Info., and then have a reputable Advertising Agency, come up with a genuine incentive program. Maybe have a Reality TV program set up. That last statement may sound way-out of line. But, it could be done tastefully, with dignity and an all-out fund raiser. And, most of all informing people with Entertainment, would be cost affective, if other people besides just Bono, etc., would lend their talent out for a just cause.
It takes money to make money. Total understatement I know.

UNICEF should partner with sports and entertainment organizations to hold special promotions to raise awareness and raise money. For example, the NBA could sponsor UNICEF nights where a portion of all ticket receipts go toward child immunizations around the world. If a game has an attendance of 17,000, and $1 from each ticket goes to UNICEF, that's 1000 kids that could be immunized--and that's just from one game! This idea can be applied to other sports, to concerts, and even to movies. This will educate the public about the scope of the problem, and give people an easy way to participate in helping children around the world.

Dear Elton:
My idea of raising money for unicef is to hold a raffle for a phone call from clay. Everyone has submitted so many poems to win a call. This one would be better cause the tickets would be a dollar a piece and they can buy as many as they want.I will buy the tickets and pay for the postage and envelopes. That is if Clay is willing to do this. You also don't have to worry I am bonded in the state of MD.I just would have to know a beginning and ending date. There isn't anything I wouldn't do for unicef.I would like the next person would like to see these kids not go hungry or not be able to get the shots they need.To the people that don't want to donate I say shame on them and what if this was there family.I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. Well I will be
waiting to hear from you.May God Bless You Forever And Ever

Instead of having all of those commercials where you have to look at what's wrong with the children, have a regular looking commercial of someone that is running around jumping and drinking a Sprite or a Coke and then you say, "This isn't a commercial for a soft drink. This is Joe Bob and he was immunized a year ago. So, lay off the Cokes and give $17 a month to UNICEF. Because that $17 a month will make Joe Bob very healthy...and very happy (show him smiling)."

If this is a serious question, there is a very simple answer.

Stop wasting money.

Resist denial.

Stop wasting money.

Cut bureaucracy. Stop paying for studies. Resist benefits for the top money makers.

Begin being honest. Start being forthright. Eliminate explanations about why UNICEF can't ever do all it should do with the billions of dollars UNICEF receives from people all over the world.

You want to fund more immunizations?

It's easy.

Start!

Get sponsors for a commercial on National Television telling them about the masses of children dying in the countries who need the immunizations for kids. Use the words "sons and daughters" to describe the children. End the commercial with "Would you help a child that could've been yours?" or something around that basis. Hold big events like presentations in towns and cities similar to the layout of presidential campaigning. Put an additional $17 into taxpayers' returns. Donate a portion of lottery tickets' money for the cause. Those are a few ideas...
