The muscles are still there. Start doing sit ups again... how about 50 per day instead of 1000. It's a lot of stress on your neck!

Running instead of doing sit ups will also tone your stomach.

try cardio and don't do sit ups every day! You must do them every other day because in between the days your abs are resting and growing stronger. When you don't do situps you do pushups (shoulder width apart). Your stomach will tighten and you will feel stronger. If there is a square shape to your stomach or a line down the middle you have a six pack ( congradulations!) if not you need to rest so your body will not have a pulled stomach muscle.

Don't worry, it takes time. Keep going, don't stop. Try crunches, that helps too, run also. You aren't alone, I'm trying to flatten my stomach and it's working, my stomach isn't getting flabby anymore. Plus eat lots of vegetables and fruits, eat only when you are hungry. It strengthens your metabolism too. So don't give up. When your stomach gets flatter don't stop! You need to stay active, your metabolism level will drop if you stop. Sittups and crunches will just build muscle behind the fat. YOu need to do toning exercises. Alot of cardio, such as interval training. Do alot of sprints with a feww minutes of rest between. that will take the flab off!
