I've heard from several people that once you dye your hair it will never, ever go back to its full original color, even if you let it grow out for months. I have blonde hair and it has its own highlights and i love it, but i'm looking for a change. I want to dye it dark brown with auburn highlights, but i'm afraid if i do it will never go back to my blonde.
any help/advice with this would be much appreciated.

It grows out your natural color. The part that had been dyed is the only part of your hair that the dye can affect, the new hair that will grow out doesn't even exist yet when you put the dye on your hair.

Your hair will go back to how it was...as it grows the dye will 'grow out of your hair' The dye may fade a bit as well, but probably not back to your natural colour. Note: If the dye is a lot different to your natural colour and you want your natural colour back... you may look a bit stupid with half of your hair in one colour and the other half in the other colour.

OK, I had really dark Brown hair & I dyed it lighter and got highlights. Then I decied that it was WAY too much trouble, and I was sick of it. So, I tried to go back to my original color, and it felt like it took forever! Finally I found out that this woman I know had just finished school. I let her try to get it back to my original color and she got it really close. Now it looks good, but it's not as dark as it used to be. I think if you want to change the color of your hair go for it, but your hair won't be as light.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

for me, my natural color has always come back, but i have dark brown hair already, so i am not sure if there would be a difference for you if your blonde. u should try dyeing an inside strip of your hair the color u would like it to be and see if your natural color grows back, if it does, then do your whole hair
