I purchased a Pentax Optio E10 along with a battery recharge pack which came with 4 AA recahragable batteries. After following the instructions of the recharge pack to fully charge the provided AA batteries, i plugged them into the digitial camera. Nothing happened. I reinserted my dying non-rechargable Duracell Ultra within the camera and it worked fine.

I think the problem has to do with the mA and voltage rating of the provided rechargable battery. Can someone tell me the min'm specs i should look for when purchasing AA and AAA recharagble batteries for my Digital Camera?

Thanks.

I forgot to mention the rechargeables i pruchased were 1800mA and 1.2v (i believe). Definitely values less than the plain old Duracell Ultra.

suggest checking out EverReady or Duracell rechargable Lithium Ion cells.
Since you need AA size, they are available in 2500mah capacity .
this is more than enough capacity and should last for quite awhile

have used the same cells with Sony digital camera and they work better than the origionals.

Today's digital cameras are extremely high-drain devices. The batteries must power a color LCD, a motorized zoom lens, an autofocus system, the multi-megapixel imager and the associated processing hardware.

The answer is simple ... use high power NiMH rechargeable batteries.

Over the last couple of years we've seen higher capacity NiMH batteries hit the market, especially in the popular AA size which is what most of the digicams use. The first cells were only 800-900mAh capacity but now we have a wide choice of cells ranging from 1500 to 2700mAh. As expected, the higher the capacity - the longer the run time.

There are three types of rechargable batteries. The old NiCd batteries have a lower mA than a Nimh type battery(which sells for different prices according to mA) and the LiOn batteries that are lighter and more pricey.

If one of the recharged battery goes bad (test with a battery tester)then the recharged batteries appear to be not recharged. To find the bad battery, (without a battery testor)insert one at a time and see if it works in the camera. However usually it is recommended to change all the batteries at the same time, but to save money replace the bad battery or try to recharge it again.

I have two sets of rechargeable batteries for my digital camera (Fuji S5100): 2500mAh Energizers and 2650mAh Duracells. Once charged, they don't stay that way for long. I have to use them within a week or just recharge them. But once I'm using them, they'll last all day taking photos/videos, deleting, viewing.

2500 mAh rechargeable batteries, preferably duracell or energizer. always have spare alkalines on hand. always make sure that the batteries have just come off the charger as NiMH batteries lose their juice quickly when sitting. alkalines can keep for months/years. best case scenario, two sets of rechargeables, one in the charger, the other just put in the camera.
