why would any mother abandon her baby, its not just a romanian issue it happens everywhere - even here!!

thats quite the generalization. Not all romanians abandon their babies.. and the answer is no, they do not have as easy access to contraception as we do. They dont have the same kind of medical system where they can get birth control pills, and even if they could, it would be too much money for most families to afford. Condoms are also quite expensive when you dont even have enough money for food sometimes. The easy answer would be to say not to have sex.. but from what I have read, many romanian women rely on their cycle to determine when is the best time to have sex without getting pregnant.. which we all know is not a reliable method. Its a very poor country.. therefor the medical system doesnt support birth control the way it should.

Do not generalize.Usually the persons who abandon their babies are Gypsies or persons from very poor families.They are most uneducated,they are forced to marry from a really young age (they say this is the Gypsies tradition) so very less of them finish school.They get pregnant,they have no money for abortion or for raising children so they leave their babies in hospital after birth.And unfortunately not many Romanians are willing to adopt Gypsies...
And of course we have contraception here and we can get it very easily,unlike the first person who answered said.This is not the problem,the problem is that most of those who leave their babies are uneducated persons...

Romania is a very poor country with a very bad medical system. Getting things like birth control is very hard and expensive. Women who can't afford to keep their children leave them for goivernment orphanages to raise, especially babies with medical problems that will be even more expensive and hard work.
Unlike a lot of western countries, they seem to have mainly orphanages rather than government paid foster-parenting processes for looking after abandoned children (same with Ukraine).
Also unlike a lot of western countries, they don't pay single moms welfare to stay at home and look after their child - so if the mother can't find a relative to babysit, she would have to give up her child.
This is like what happened to the child Madonna adopted in Malawi. The mother died, the father couldn't work and also look after the child, so he put it in an orphanage.

I think I have heard of English youngsters abandoning babies, or dumping them at hospitals etc. Sometimes they think they will have a better future. rather than the hardship of coping in an alien country. Some of the most awful people I have met are English like me. Some of the nicest have been Muslim and African. Please don't label a race like this. It is a form of bullying.

they don't have much of a choice they are married off very Young to a life of poverty, men die very young out there and the woman has to find anotherr husband to live, and another man will not take on anothe mans children so you see there's not a lot of choice, they are very poor people who live very simple life's,

BECAUSE THEY ARE SCUM, BUT YOU DO GET A FEW ABANDONED IN THE UK EACH YEAR, BUT I THINK ITS PROBABLY DOWN TO POVERTY
