Progeria is a disease where the patient ages rapidly. No, there is no cure and treatment is purely palliative (that is, treating the symptoms of aging). The outcome of progeria is the same at that of aging...death. Most of those with progeria die by age of 13...though the longest person to survive was 29!

The disease usually presents itself between the ages of 18 to 24 months and is characterized by hair loss, wrinkles, limited body growth and a tiny face with a tiny jaw and pinched nose. Mental growth is not affected and these children age 6 to 8 times faster than normal children. It is tragic that they are affected by such a devastating disorder.
