I have a cane corso /pitbull cross he is classed as a dangerous dog but he is a loving affectionate dog and shows no agressive tendencies. No dog should be left alone with a child though

There are no bad dogs only bad owners. If your dog behaves appropriately then you sounds like you're doing a good job.

I don't agree with the "there are no bad dogs, only bad owners."
There are dogs with poor temperaments that will be unpredictable no matter what the breed. This is not breed specific. The way to minimise problems with any dog is proper training and socialisation. The absence of which will result in a poorly behaved dog. A pit/corso mix may not be dangerous as far as temperament, but the capability is there. Those are two high drive dogs that are very powerful. A dog like that might not ever do anything but if it does it could do alot of damage.

I adopted a Cane Corso, he is a great dog. He was not socialised properly as a pup so he has some fear issues with strangers but he couldn't be better with family.

Hi, no its not the dogs fault at the end of the day the are a animal and need to be trained by their owners. So i thinks it unfair for the dog to be punishe. Im sure i wouldnt leave a child alone with a dog. For one thing i have seen a child many a time treat a dog like a toy anf pull its fur and try and sit on the dog. If dog gets hurt sometimes the dog either yelps or lashes out. But then its not the dogs fault. Its the owners fault for not telling the child to pull the dogs fur, and then telling the dog not to growl or do what he just did. The dog doesnt know no difference. So i think its bad owners that are the problem. I know sometimes a dog maybe hard to train but if it is you keep the dog with you at all times and certainly not leave the dog where it can harm anyone.
The thing is some breed of dogs do have tendancys to turn for no reason. I just think its a shame when its a brilliant dog usually.

Dogs either do what comes naturally or what they are trained to do so it is not the dog's fault. However some breeds are known to have more aggressive characters than others and should be carefully managed and kept in a confined garden, where they can't get out, and kept on leads around other dogs and people. That is responsible management of a dog. Unfortunately there's a lot of people who keep certain breeds of dog because it makes the owner look tough, and it seems that today's tragic news wasn't the first time the dog had attacked someone. So it was the owner's responsibility to keep the dog under control.
What a shame that a child had to be killed because of someone's ignorance and negligence.

I agree with the previous answer that there are no bad dogs.. only bad owners and bad training. I have a friend that has a pit and he is one the best dogs that I have ever met. Great around kids and everything. Don't get me wrong.. if you were to go after my friend the dog would go after you, but that's how he was trained. I've heard a lot of conversation about killing off certain breeds of dogs and I think it's just obsurd. And Illinois just passed a law that says if you have had a felony then you are not allowed own one of the restricted breeds... I however thing that is a great idea!!

I believe that it is the owners that are to blame when a dog attacks. No dog is born aggressive although I must say that like humans some are grumpier than others. It is the owners duty to see that no dog is left alone with a child because they might unintentionally hurt the animal and then it could retaliate. Even if a dog is not one of the so called 'dangerous' breeds accidents can happen.

I personally feel that any dog could be classed as a dangerous dog all depending on the enviroment it is bought up in.
As with children you need to let the dog know that there are rules to follow and let them know who is in charge. That said I still would not leave a child alone with a dog no matter what its breed.

the character of canines is in many situations a mirrored image of the character of the vendors. If an animal grows up in a house the place tensions are extreme, there is frequently shouting and probably violence. The animal will continually strengthen up careful, frequently adversarial to strangers, vulnerable and snappy and dare I say it anti-social. An animal desires a similar recurring, obstacles, love and heat temperature with the aid of fact comparable to the different human. Thereby turning out to be a heat, friendly domesticated animal. it somewhat is a similar for youngsters while they strengthen as much as be complicated and offensively behaved youthful adults. the place there is frequently a bad tempered and badly behaved animal there are commonly undesirable tempered and badly behaved little ones. What the RSPCA can do is in all probability in basic terms lots as they are presently doing. and that's responding to the very many calls they receive from the wide-unfold public approximately concerns. i'm no longer a definite animal lover myself in admire of companion and youngsters pets, even however for my section there is the case that some adults do no longer deserve the two pets or little ones.

No, the dog isn't at fault, the owner is. You have a very stong dog with natural protective and dog-agressive tendencies. You have the full responsibility of being completely in charge of your dog. Dogs' natural behaviors need to be directed and worked with to help the dog learn to respond appropriately in any given situation.
There are pits that I would let my kids play with and there are labradors that I won't let near my kids.

How your dog acts will teach anyone you meet about the breed and about dogs in general.

Yes, he should never be left alone with a child, but I believe that the dog's behaviour is totally up to the owner, if the dog has been trained properly, then there is no reason why the dog should be aggressive unless it was trained that way.

All breeds of dogs have a form and function. Dogs were bred for specific reasons. This should be aknowledged, accepted, and promoted by their owners. Dogs are happiest when doing what they were bred to do. Some dogs were bred for their power and aggression and should be respected and used as such.
Do any of us drive a harpoon missle to and from work, or cut our PB&J with a chain saw, anyone use TNT to make toast? This is essentially the same as having dangerous animals as pets.
