Trying to come up with a name for a new dog before you get one is a little tricky. Usually the personality and characteristics of the dog helps in picking a name.
My dog Cheyenne, I named her because I happened to be reading a book on the Cheyenne Indians when I found her. She had a black muzzle which reminded me of how Indians would decorate their faces.
Pinto was named after the Pinto Ponies because she has similar markings. But her nickname is Pinto beanies for some reason. LOL
Tobey was named after the actor Tobey Maguire because Seabiscuit was the movie we had gotten in the mail from Netflix the day after I found him.
When I was about eight years old, my mom was laying on the couch taking a nap and I was playing on the floor with my new puppy. My mom started talking in her sleep "Bubbles, bubbles in the air, bubbles bubbles everywhere." It made me laugh really hard (I was a kid) and that's what I named my new puppy, Bubbles.
So, as you can see, naming a dog isn't about picking a name you like. It's more about picking a name that goes with the eventfulness of pet ownership.
Good luck with your pet, I hope he or she will bring you years of joy and happiness. Mine sure have!!

I have two male dogs. Both were strays that we "adopted." The first is named "Boy." The other is a Basset, Beagle mix and is named "Sport." We've had them for 13 years and I can't imagine calling them anything else. Your names are nice, and after a while, you'll fell the same way...no matter what you name them. Just remember, please, a puppy is a 12 to 15 year commitment. He'll bond with you and be the most faithful friend you'll ever have.

I don't think anyone can suggest names for you to use for your pets, that's like naming someone else's child! Pet names are given to a pet because they mean something to you or you just like the way it sounds! I have had Casey, Clyde, Marley, Jake, Hershey, Absolut... Just make sure it's a name that when you are calling out for your pet, 20 people don't look around thinking you are yelling at them!
