I am not sure if this makes sense but here goes. It's not so hard to believe in the bible. I believe the people that wrote it were different than you and me. I know it is easy to block out a belief. It is harder to accept something that you can't see. I, myself, was challenged to pray about my belief in the word and there is a part of me that says it is true. Our emotions (and pride) sometimes get in the way. I am still making my way towards a belief that is more spiritual in origin. But I am happy in my belief that the bible represents truths especially from a historical standpoint. I know that things in my life are better since I have started taking some biblical things without a definite answer in front of me. We Americans have been blessed but I am afraid it won't take long to lose those blessings if we turn our back on God. Sometimes we think with our needs. Sometimes we just haven't been taught. Remember it doesn't take long to lose a thought. I do know that the bible helps retain a history that also has some teachings that are important to our well-being.

Give me some examples of what people wrote in scripture to manipulate men. I beleive you will not be able to, because all the bible instructs is for all men to do good deeds. If the bible were written without Godly instruction, the law about having multiple wives would still be active.

If the Bible is made up, what did those who wrote it gain by doing so? A lifetime of persecution, being crucified, being stoned to death, watching their families being fed to lions? Do you think if this was just a "story" that the people would suffer this fate with ZERO evidence of anyone ever denying their beliefs? It couldnt possibly have been made up because there was simply no reasonable motive or benefit for doing so.

exactly... bible is all crap, if those christians didnt force me to read a stupid book id probably consider jesus my friend. btw some christians are ignorant even of their own religion, i hate bible but i read it to make sure i really mean it, read your book before talk christianity.
religions are dying, ppl are smart now and when you believe in your bio textbook, you just cant believe in bible at the same time, unless you dont think about the irony of it. anything grows should be buddhism cus its not a religion, and the teachings are wise, way wiser then jesus christ. IGNORANCE IS THE GREATEST SIN not atheism. so true.... so TRUE! "my religion is very simple, my religion is kindness." the dalai lama said it, well this is what the world needs, not using heaven to seduce us and hell to scare the heck out of us to keep us loyal, sounds like absolute monarchy to me. and most christians dont at least TRY to be perfect cus bible tells them ohh we are all sinners, ask god for forgiveness! have faith, then you can go to heaven! come on, im not a bad person, and i live my life for its own sake, not for getting a reward.

And you know that that's not really true.
The people who wrote what's in the Bible believed they were writing what God put on their heart to write.
You don't want to believe it, and you have that right, but don't make up stuff, or you put yourself in the same position as those who try to make the Bible say things it doesn't.

It is a collection of 66 books written by 40 authors over a period of 1500 years with complete unity of theme & purpose. It is scientifically, geographically, archaelogically and historically 100% accurate. What other book consistently hits the #1 best seller list year after year? If you're interested in researching this, read the book "The Signature of God" by Grant Jeffrey where you will find amazing proof. Peace :-)

Because they BELIEVE they can't know for them selves. They BELIEVE when they die they will go to heaven. They don't KNOW that reality requires no BELIEFS. Just to practise living in LIFE & TRUTH that is always PRESENT, this is all that is needed and anyone can do it. Very simple is'nt it? That is of course if you mean't the Biiiiiible.

How do you know that? Do you have exclusive insider knowledge that proves that statement true? Everything we know of the way it was written, Jewish practices (unfailingly preserving even the tiniest letter unchanged), and internal evidence shows otherwise. Those are why I believe in the Bible. It's unfortunate that you have such a poorly-supported notion of why you DON'T believe in the Bible.
