He likes to dip his paw into it and then the water just goes everywhere...but he also drinks water from wherever he can find it- the faucets, glasses, bowls in the sink..etc.

All of these are good suggestions, but don't expect getting a different bowl to keep your kitty from getting in the water. I have a two year old cat who loves to stand in his flat-on-the-floor water bowl while he drinks out of it. It confuses me because I have two more cats who will absolutely freak if more than their tongue and lips get wet.

But honestly, a heavier bowl is your best bet!

They have heavyweight bowls that they cannot tip. You can go to your local pet store and get one. Here is a website where you can see different types of water dishes. They also have larger ones where there is no way he can tip them over: http://www.petcarecentral.com/foodbowls.html

I do not allow my kitten on my sinks at all. I have found a product call SSScat. It is a motion detected can that when the cat is near, it sprays an odorless, harmless gas that just scares him. Here is a website more about it. The place where I bought it was cheaper, so if you want one, look around first. http://www.ssscat.com/repellent/effect.html. I got it off of some other pet store website, but I cannot remember which one. My cat stays off wherever I put it. It worked wonderfully by the Christmas Tree. It is wonderful. I don't leave my glass anywhere for him to drink from. I change his water daily so it is fresh for him. They also have a continuous watering device for kitties too. It depends on what you want to get your kitties and how much you want to spend. I wish your kitty good health.

I have a cat that's the same way. Drinks out of everything. As far as tipping the water bowl over, try one of the bowls that has the jug on top. I can't think of the name. Mine has a big jug and automatically refills the bowl. That way I only have to refill the water maybe once a week and it's too heavy and awkward for the cat to knock it over.

Ever get your glass of water dumped on you in the middle of the night while you were sleeping only to awake to the sound of thundering cat paws fading in the distance?

I have this same problem with my cats. My remedy was to buy an all in one bowl. The one piece plastic that has the food and water side-by-side, so far they have not been able to turn it over. As for the sink drinking, cats prefer fresh running water over stagnent water. We let our cats drink from the bathroom faucet 2-3 times a day...

They have available at PetsMart a variety of bowls that are heavy enough to prevent the animal from tipping it over. They have come along way in developing water feeders such as the tube kind where they can only lick the water and not spill it! Check out your local pet store and see what gizmo's would work best for your "fishing" cat!

He obviously hasn't learned what he is and isn't allowed to do. You have to train cats too! Get yourself one of those spray bottles with the long stream, for when he drinks from somewhere you don't want him to. For the bowl, you can either attach the bowl to a piece of plywood or a heavy placemat, which will make it a pain for him to flip, or you can put something heavy in the water, like a rock, or a weight. Just make sure it can't leak into the water and hurt him, or something like that. :)

We use a baseball sized, cleaned rock in the cats water bowl. We have MANY that tip the bowl.

Do you know any handy men or women? I had my Dad make a box with two holes in the top so I could set the topperware bowls right in after refilling them. I love it! Labor was free and the materials were alot cheaper than any store bought bowl.

Yup, I use a dog bowl with a rubber bottom so that they can't scoot it across the floor, then tip it over. It's worked like a charm.
