I think there are a higher percentage of humanities types, who are more prone to appreciating beauty, among lefties than among those on the right. I think a lot of your right-wing religious types are more like business people who see nature as something to be exploited for use and profit.
I hear many Christians point to Genesis and say, man was supposed to rule and subdue, or have dominion over nature. To them the natural world is a resource to be used for profit.

That's a load of crap.
I'm a Christian, support environmental causes, and am totally blown away by the natural beauty of this planet and by the glorious things which have graced it over the past 4.5 billion years.
Whether the world is 6,000 or 4.5 billion years old, it is still God's creation, a gift to us, and should be protected.
Now a more interesting question would be why so many so-called Christians on the right-wing/conservative side favor widespread environmental destruction - perhaps they don't really care about God's creation or perhaps they're just thriving under the political cover of "who cares, the apocalypse is coming anyway?".

Well, the Roman Catholic church has actively promoted concern for and care of the planet's resources since the days of Francis of Assisi (the 13th century). In more modern times, a series of papal letters and documents, working groups and projects, have all been focused on environmental concerns.
So I suspect it slightly over-stated to say that environmentalists are godless lefties.

They rely on humanistic views such as man decides truth. For example, 1+1=2. This is always the case unless you get technical and throw in binary code or something like that. This law is not made by man. It is only discovered by man, but certain people, especially humanist, coincide finding truth and creating truth. The truth existed before man and apart from man. Our only job is to discover it.

The beauty and grandeur of nature should inspire scientific curiosity - a desire to see whats really out there - not a retreat in to ignorant superstition.

We are ALL environmentalists. It's just that some of us rape the environment, most of us are indifferent to it, and a few of us prefer to treat it respectfully.
And guess what... the environment will have the last laugh, no matter what religion you profess to have (or don't have.)

Compare it to expert in Linguistics, like me. It does not guarantee me to understand writings in Pali (Thai Language) unless I have spent time learning it. Most scientists are using their natural eyes and not their spiritual eyes. They have been moulded to think as evolutionists who can not see the handprints of God in nature, but everything to them have come into existence by chance.

Who said that? Religious faith is inspired by indoctrinating parents who corrupt the minds of defenceless children. Nature teaches you to that there is no such thing as a supreme god. Nature teaches you to believe in Darwinism.
