I have been praying to hear from God. But I can't seem to hear it. I read my bible. I know that's God speaking. But I really have a desire to hear His voice in times of trouble. Is that wrong?

He isn't silent, he is just saying "no"

Anything I say after this is personal experience. I am not judging anyone for anything.

His voice takes many forms. It is not always a sound. It can be a movement, an animal, another person. The major problem that most people have hearing the voice is that they cannot quiet themselves. They are constantly moving and changing directions. This creates noise that the voice cannot penetrate. The loudest noise reaches the ear first.

All of the things in a person's life create noise. This is why most religions have a "code of conduct" that they request you follow. This code removes the things that make noise or cause distraction.

Ever heard the phrase "Its so loud in here I can't hear myself think" ? This is the case. Too many things requesting attention right then and there. If you cannot hear your own voice in your own head, then what makes a person think they will hear the voice of anyone/anything else?

We all hear the voice. We hear it everyday. Unfortunately, most of us can't turn off our learnt behaviour to even consider what it is saying.

Desiring to hear God speak to you isn't wrong. A lot of people to desire to hear God speak to them. But maybe it's just not the right time. God plans everything at a certain time. You can't rush Him. Sometimes He waits to see if you'll be patience. Sometimes it's a test to see if you'll wait on Him instead of getting upset or angry that He doesn't answer when you want Him to. If it were me I would pray and tell God that I'm ready for the answer when He's ready to give it.

God does not need to answer in a form of voice ..He can answer in different way's ... thats one reason ... another is that you and God are not in good terms meaning that there is something that hinders your direct relationship from God ... something that you did or something that someone else has done can effect you ... so make sure you confess your sins and ask God for forgiveness... accept him as your personal saviour...make sure u believe with all your heart that he died for ur sins...you must recieve the gift of the Holy Spirit ....Holy Spirit is what guides you and answers all your questions ... its good that you read your Bible... you gotta also understand what you read ...when you pray ...u must pray with a sincere and earnest heart.... you must seek the Lord your God.. the one who created you .... pray for everthin you desire in His name ... and dun just ask for things make sure you give the well earned and respected praise that the almighty God deserves .... when you do these things and pray with a heart seeking the Lord he will answer you when you call on His name ....My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches and Glory .... you also need to understand everything happens because it is His will ... if he does not answer you then it is not the time or place yet ... its all part of the Will of God .... i hope i helped at least a little bit.... pray some more and ask God to show you wat you need to do to hear his voice .... God Bless ...

Not at all. Actually, it sounds to me like you *are*hearing God's voice. If you are expecting to hear an audible voice, you'll most likely be disappointed, as that has only happened a few times in all of redemptive (i.e. all) history. Not many of us have Damascus Road experiences. Of course, that's a good thing - I wouldn't want (in my natural humanness) to go through what Paul went through.

Remember, God can speak through many means - the Bible, Christian friends, family members, even non-Christians. He once spoke to Balaam through a donkey. It's a matter of taking what you hear from all those sources and comparing it to what the Bible says.

Dr Rockey, if you want God to talk to you today, you must be sincere and honest to what you ask of him. He knows you are contemplating and doesn't answer and you know why. It has nothing to do with reading the Bible.

It is best that you go somewhere out to the nature area. I like the woods where you can be alone and then talk to him and watch what happens with nature around you.

God has answered me many times. I have witnessed apparitions and the biggest joy of all was when the Fog appeared to me in my room....a miracle that day and today it remains one precious moment that God does exhist and why I was chosen to see it is clearly justified.
You will have to call for your self.
read my blog page and look on the bottom left about my ghost story and there you will "The Fog", it was a phenomenal experience and today it has never happened again.

God seems to be silent only who doesn't want to listen. But those who have ears can hear. Psalm 14:1,2 says that there is nowhere on earth that His voice cannot be heard.

Don't expect a good answer here for this.

But, I'm sure in time you'll see with clarity that the problem is on the end of the receiver.

I'm not knocking you, I just know from personal experience.
Give it some time.

He's there, He cares, and He's trying to be heard.

Everything he wants to say is in the bible...if you hear a voice pretending he is God, think it over.

He is letting you decide what to do. The ways of God are not for us to understand. He does things on His schedule, we have to do the best we can

It's nice to have faith but you shouldn't expect to see God help you in the way you desire. There are other signs sent that perhaps answer your prayers but since they are not in the form you expect you ignore them. Be prudent and expand yourself.
