The house now sticks out like a sore thumb on our block, and could affect the resale value of our home. Should I leave an anonymous note? Start a petition?

The house had just been repainted by the previous owners, and was a nice, basic beige color with white trim. It definitely didn't need new paint.

unless your neighborhood is covenant controled you probably must live with it...this is a free country (atleast it is SUPPOSED to be a free country and people can paint their houses any colour they choose unless they have covenant controls in place, and even then it gets a bit iffy.)
i pass by a house not far from mine that is "Jayhawk Blue" on the body and "Jayhawk Red" on the trim...looks really BAD BAD BAD IKK TERRIBLE AWFUL HORRIBLE stephen king eat your heart out nightmare looking place that doesn't just stand out it looks like it is begging to be hit with a surface to surface missile and annihilated and any blind man could do it.
my wife has been known to issue "bad tast citations" to such people...whether they get to the owners of such buildings is beyond me, but she does it in fun, yet with a clear message that the decore of a cited place truly is lacking, "what are you thinking?" kind of message to it.

No, check to see if you have covenants or restrictions that govern homes in your subdivision. Is there a Neighborhood Association or an ACC? If there is no neighborhood association, is there any zoning restriction that might help? Check your local government's zoning department. There is NOTHING worse that a neighborhood dispute. Don't do anything unless all your neighbors support you and even then I'd be really careful. They could hurt you, your animals or your property. Finally, remember, the worst paint color in the world will change and weather to a less garish shade. Do not start a fight with neighbors over aethestics. You will not win and the consequences to you could be very unpleasant.

They either know the color isn't what they expected OR they really like the color. Either way, it really isn't any of your business since I doubt they asked you. A petition won't do any good unless you live in an HOA and even still it is a pretty crappy thing to do. If you absolutely MUST stick your nose in this, then go with an anonymous note. I'd suggest getting over it.

Perhaps this could be due to black holes or perhaps something a local Government is up to, but is classified from NASA. We really don't know... Speculation doesn't give us any conclusions as of yet, only possible leads. Could be as you seem to speculate, If God is giving us a signal, but again we must wait for real conclusiveness. If God is able to cloak spiritual vision of things & science cannot measure things on this realm... then He is also more than capable of cloaking sounds in the spiritual realm. Only time will tell.

No.

It's their house, not yours. Your resale value is your problem, not theirs. And that's always the excuse that nosy neighbors use, when really, it's not going to have that much impact on your resale value, if any. Schools, size, retail centers, and the condition of your house affect your resale value. Are you selling your house now? Then you have better things to worry about. Are you not planning to sell your house any time soon? Then you have better things to worry about.

Paint color is a matter of taste and yours not matching your neighbor's is okay.

Leave your neighbors alone!

This is America and they have the freedom to paint their house whatever color they want. You need to let your neighbor be. Defiantly don't be a coward and leave an anonymous note. If they ask if you like it tell them you think it is ugly otherwise let it be. People like you are the problem with this country. Everyone wanting to get in everybodys business.

lemme tell you.........
my neighbors are lovely people...but when it comes to MY house...i do what i want.
last summer i created a mosiac of broken plates, glass marbles and mirrors on my front porch. i have primitive looking hand painted animal stools scattered around my yard. and i have a huge colored bottle tree in my backyard. i knocked out the existing glass in my front door and put in colorful stained glass instead. i painted a mural on the rest of the door.
my neighbors may or may not like my house. but its mine. i am an artist and i create.my home is my sanctuary, my studio, and where my family loves most to be.

20 years from now...the color of your neighbors house wont matter....that is unless 20 years earlier you offended them and lost out on a potential great friendship.

lighten up. :)

If you have a active homeowners association in place, the charter will have a description of how this may be handled. If not - it's none of your business - move to a property with a homeowners association if you want to mind your neighbors property upkeep.

did you ever think that the people did not have a lot of money to spend and that the paint was in their budget.
and that is all they could get and the house needed to be painted

You should MYOB. It's their property and their legal right to care for it in any manner they see fit so long as they are not breaking any code laws (county, city, town, etc) or any association rules if you live in a residential group.
