Just wondering if you OWN an 06 explorer and notice some of the stupid design problems in it such as... rear headrest blindspots, delayed reaction on tranny, squealing engine when quick acceleration, whistling moonroof, glitching computer (the display on the dash). I like it alot but some of these issues really bug me.

I love this car and i did buy it! The only thing i knew of was the tranny and the headrests other than that the problems didnt occur until after i bought it. I wasnt trying to bash ford at all, i have 3 of them. Just wondering if anyone else expierienced these issues...

Don't own one.. Work on a few though...

Check the moonroof to make sure it is closed.. If not , it may be the roof rack if you have one... putting the bars on backwards (the movable part) can cause noise.

The delayed reverse is a known thing, but I haven't really heard of any fixes as of yet on them (check with the dealer)

The squealing is possibly a glazed over alternator belt... I find putting anything on them (espcially if you have the engine area detailed) will cause this.

Display on the dash, you need to get with the dealer on.. If it's going out, they need to know.. but without seeing it, I wouldn't know.

Unfortunately, the first year anything comes out, every manufacturer will have issues with the product.

I've driven one as a rental, and noticed most of the problems you mentioned.

My question is, if you are going to bag on it so hard, why did you buy an Explorer in the first place?

Didn't you test drive the truck and listen and check all these things you mention? Didn't you research the car at sites like www.edmunds.com to see what problems people were claiming to have? Didn't you read up on the reviews in magazines to find out the pluses and minuses of ownership?

The design problems might be stupid...but using your own judgement, you did buy it.

But on the other side of the coin, there isn't a vehicle ever made, sold or purchased that doesn't have minuses or pluses that are designed into them. Some of them won't bother anyone, some will bother everyone.

I own a 2003 Saturn Vue, it has many problems, but I choose to overlook them and wouldn't consider discussing them in this type of forum, because I absolutely enjoy driving it.

The same could be said for the former vehicles I've owned including my 2004 Chevy Trailblazer EXT LT, my 1998 Acura RL SE, my 1996 Honda Accord EX, and my 1994 Ford Ranger Splash Supercab. Every one of these vehicles were awesome and dogs all at the same time.

I have probably driven ever single retal car available over the last 8 years and I've had some excellent rentals, but they could be called dogs for everything from radio controls to wind noise to blind spots.

But I wouldn't complain about it unless something major was going on that wasn't covered under warranty.

Just enjoy your Explorer as long as you can.

I don't have one. I briefly had an 02 and dumped it back on the seller because the 4wd system wasn't working properly. I was told that this was a common problem by a mechanic. I really like the looks and size of the Explorers, but all I hear is complaints. Ford is really a disappointment. They should be made to make everything right for you!!!

yeah, I have some of those problems but not all. You'd think the design team would have better solutions..Oh well, overall I love it anyhow.
