Trust me, don't do it!
I have a Beta copy of the software for IT professional testing and it isn't very good. You need a massive spec PC to run it and loads of space and that's just to run the bare bones of the system.
Microsoft have tried to do what Apple have been doing on the iMacs for ages and they just don't seem to have got it this time!
If you want all the flashy graphics then get and iMac, it would be cheaper in the long run, otherwise stick to XP.

It cost between $250 and $400 depending on your needs, it will be available later this month.
Q - do you have good enough hardware to upgrade? Minimum requirements are not enough for Vista, if you really want the full set of features - you need a bad *** computer with fast CPU, plenty of memory, HDD space, and good graphics. Please consider all the factors before upgrading and decide whether you really need it or not.
GOod luck!

Go to the Microsoft website and download the vista advisor program. once installed it checks all the components of your computer to see if its compatible with the new system. I would advise against installing any new system until it has been on sales for at leased 2 or 3 months so that any problems can be cleared.

It's not out for a few more weeks.
Expect to pay around £100
You place the vista dvd in your pc and it will guide you through the instalation, it will overwrite xp but keep your files (music, movies etc) intact.

When it is out you will have a choice of about 6 different flavours.
The starter one ( Less features ) but ok for most normal home use will be about £80 then slowly increaing to around £300 for pro server versions.

dont bother, why would you want to?
Vista is full of bugs, you risk losing the use of your printer or scanner, some software still wont work with vista, wait another year or so till its fixed.
