Young-earth creationists like to tell anecdotes about a few examples where radiometric dating methods were used inappropriately and/or yielded inaccurate results. Carbon-14 dating is especially problematic, for reasons given in the first link below. However, there are many other dating methods that are widely accepted by the scientific community. Read about them in the second link below.
I am an old-earth creationist. Those who believe it is necessary to do battle with evolutionists over the issue of the earth's age are sadly misled. The Bible does not require belief in a young earth; it was Bishop James Ussher who came up with that idea in 1650. See the third link below for more info on that.

All the world is a test of our faith.
And carbon dating, like all other science, is part of reality, part of God's creation itself. That knowledge is a gift to us.
All this knowledge - of evolution - of carbon dating - of the workings of DNA - of the history of mass extinctions - this merely reveals the intricasies of God's creation.
No Christian should be threatened by the knowledge that humanity began 1-2 million years ago instead of 6000 years ago, or that the Earth came into being 4-5 billion years ago.
Does any of this information make the universe any less awesome?
No, of course not.
So relax, and enjoy the marvels of the universe.
People who feel their Christian beliefs theatened by carbon dating, or by the evolution theory, or by any evidence the earth and universe are billions of years old, really have very weak faith. So - yes - all these things are a test of our faith.
Many people have tried to undermine such scientific evidence, but you will not find serious, journal and peer review supported backup for such attacks. What you will find is a lot of incomplete, anecdotal jabs. God would not want us to ignore the gifts of the intelligence that he gave us.

I didn't realize that Christians are now saying that fossils are just a test of there faith. That's really sad, it's scientific evidence and you cannot deny a tangible object. It doesn't make sense sometimes that Christians believe in something that there is no evidence of, that you can't see or touch. Yet they disregard physical tangible evidence.

It has been determined that the accuracy of carbon-dating depends on there being no natural disasters since the time of the forming of the fossil.
This poses a tough question for atheists:
If the flood did occur as the Bible states, then carbon-dating is not accurate; there was a disaster.
If the flood didn't occur, and the Earth is as old as evolutionists believe, then there most have been many natural disasters in that time frame; especially in the early years of the forming of the Earth after the "Big Bang".
Catch 22 of sorts.

Scientific evidence...Carbon 14 dating can only go back sixty thousands years so it really doesn't discredit the bible that much.

Faith in God is a very powerful thing. When I needed God the most when times for me were really bad God answered my prayers. When My family was fighting and abusing me God got me out of that situation and into a much better place. I am now married and I always wanted a little girl. I prayed and I was sent a beautiful little girl. God is amazing, if you call and pray for Jesus and your in need of help, he listens to every prayer.

I believe some of it, but I don't place all my faith in it. The world is probably very old, but man has only been here a short time relatively.

Well since there is no god, the answer is obvious.
Oh and look, lion of judah is at it again.
Sparky, Carbon 14 is just ONE of MANY dating methods. There isn't a scientist alive that would stick to C-14. If he did, he'd be laughed out of the scientfic community.
But trying to persuade the brainless sheep that C-14 is the only method used is a typical tactic. Lying seems to be A-OK when it comes to defending your mythology doesn't it?
Pathetic.

Here we go again. The Bible states that this earth is billions and billions of years old - eons and eons old, not 6000 years old like you hear some unlearned people say.
There is no controversy between Gods Truth and science.
Absolutely none.
