Why are there so many Blonde steryotypes?

I am blonde and it is hard to get past all of the BLONDE steryotypes.Why do people think that blonds really are dumb?

Partly jealousy.

Partly because so many guys like the appearance of blondes so much they will overlook some pretty dreadful failings just because of a blonde's looks.

Thus it's received wisdom that even a stupid girl can get somewhere with the guys as long as she's blonde, simply on the basis of her looks.

Maybe those saying the rude statements are jealous they don't have blond hair ?
