I know when the current president files in any plane, it uses Air Force One, Marine One...whatever branch operates the plane....but will the body of a former president be afforded the same use of such a call for his plane?

If it isn't AF1, does it get the same air traffic control treatment as AF1 would?

Good answers, it will be Air Force One ONLY if the sitting president is on board. The use of the aircraft is at the discretion of the sitting president, is a courtesy he can extend on behalf of a grateful nation to the Ford's.
After reconsideration, I'm not so sure but what he can direct that the aircraft designation be AF-1. and it's mission is to transport the Fords. VERY good question I look forward to reading more answers. When JFK was killed his body was transported back to Washington on AF-1 but I believe Lyndon was sworn in aboard the aircraft. and may very well have been on board.

Any plane that carries the president will start with the military branch the one (air force-1=A2, marine-1 VM1) any time it is the vice president it is the same but 2 (air force 2), ANY VIP on board an A/C will be executive one no matter what the branch carrying it and the same with VIP and presidential families executive one foxtrot. The former commander and chief Mr. Bush Flew executive one back and it may have been a Special Air Mission but that was not the call sign

i don't know what plane the body will be in . i do know for sure that what ever plane the current president is in is called air force one.
when Clinton and bush Sr. used the presidential air craft together it was still not called air force one.
this will be the case with the late president if he were to fly in the plane that is normally called air force one. it has some regular name just like the other gov planes have.
they may put flags on it and all but it is still just referred to as blah blah plane.
i watched a show about air force one.

No. The Call is only given to the Plane with the current President of the United States in it. otherwise, it gets the Call VC- 28000 or 29000, depending on which plane they're using. (those are the tail numbers of the two presidential aircraft)

NO.....the term AIR FORCE ONE is used for ANY Air Force plane that is carrying the president. A 747 is the most commonly used.
AIR FORCE TWO is used for any Air Force plane carrying the vice president.....
Along the same lines, you have MARINE ONE and MARINE TWO when Marine aircraft, usually helicopters, are used.
