Every so often I will see an interesting question, but it is very rare.
Gitemgangs questions are usually 'interesting', but for different reasons.
But yeah, as someone else said, how many times do you want to go over housetraining? And who really gives a rats *** WHAT someone names their dog?
We really should start a yahoo group for us dog people on here, and then invite people as we see fit.

Yeah, I know I've answered several of the same questions more than once. I've even linked a link to my answer the first time. Some people never learn. The way I see it, if I can google it and get an answer in less than 30sec. then there is no reason you should have asked it, and I'm not going to enlighten you on my 30min search results.
Same thing happens with alot of other subsections also, but the Pets is by far the worst that I frequent. On the rare ocassion it is a rare and interesting question I know the answer to, I have to stop and actually do work and by the time I get my answer typed out it is just a repeat of the first 10 answers.. lol..
Easy to tell some of us really pounce on that rare question =)

We must remember: most people pop on here OCCASIONALLY to ask their specific question (not even realizing there IS a search, or probably wouldn't care to use it anyway), don't semi-live on here, like some of us do ; ) LOL!
I know, it is annoyingly redundant, but they really do need & want answers. As long as it is a legitimate question and I have the time, I will give an answer...not an original answer, either, but a helpful one.
All of us 'oldsters' are waiting for an original, thought-provoking, legitimate question - someday. And it is not NOT going to include the words: Designer Dog, need a name, crates are cruel, how many days will my dog be pregnant, etc (for a start).

Very good question you have asked, and it, in itself, is very thought provoking.
I only answer questions in the pet section. I have no interest in the other sections of Yahoo! Answers. I spend a lot of time, up to an hour, working out an answer, with research behind it, only to find that a 5-worded, incomplete, answer has been picked as best.
I skip many questions asked here. As I read them I see someone else has given a really good answer so they don't need my input. Some are not worth answering. I don't answer questions just to get 2 points. I answer questions where my expertice is good and educates the public. For example, I won't hesitate to jump in and give a better answer for the sake of pet rats when I know the other answers are not right.
I believe that a lot of children use this pet forum. Children are asking the questions and children are answering the questions. Sometimes these are not good answers and they could jeopardize the welfare of the pet. I wouldn't be so upset if we were talking about a car, but pets are living beings and the simple, flippant, incomplete answers are not always the best advice for the pet keeper.
I'm waiting for some more intelligent people to find their way here.
I'm waiting for a new category to be established where pot-heads can ask their questions of, "Why can't I feed my gremlin after midnight?", or, "How many legs do I have to break on my dog so it stops running away?", and leave the pet forum for serious inquiries.
I'm waiting for people to realize that their sick pets need a vet and quit waiting for a bunch of strangers to answer their questions.
I'm waiting for people to realize that their are some real experts in their field of dog knowledge, cat knowledge, rodent knowledge, reptile knowledge, etc. working on this forum and heed their advice.
I'm waiting for asker's to pick the right answer and not the answer they want to hear.
I'm waiting for people to use their search engines more and research for themselves.
I'm waiting to find out what's with this voting???? Can't the asker pick out the right answer for themselves?
Like I said, very good question you have asked here :)

yeah well alot of times the reason people ask these questions is because they have looked it up but they want a real persons input. i have looked online for answers even to other peoples questions and sometimes it really gets you no where
but it is easier for those people who are lazy to just type in a question

The problem with the truly ignorant is that even after hearing what they need to hear 10,000 times, they STILL do not understand nor do they want to apply what they have learned.

So true, so very true. Also I have found a lot of the answers should be," Your pet needs a vet."

Hahaha...
Actually, similiar questions come up as you're typing your question -- problem is people don't want to click - they want to be spoon fed.
