In the past I said no way I would support putting cameras up but now after all these drive by shootings and other crimes I think cameras should be up at every street corner. That way at least if one is going to commit a crime they will be arrested because the camera will track them when they try to flee. I'm tired of all this gang crap i'm a african american who is tired of seeing this crap and other crimes I say put the cameras up now.

No, that's the last thing we need. The UK is the most closely monitored society on the planet when it comes to public cameras and it's downright CREEPY watching the cams follow you as you walk down the street. It's been said that there is one camera for every 16 people in the UK. We damn sure don't need that here in the US!

When they first started rolling them out it seemed to have a positive effect. Shortly afterwards they discovered that it only moved crime to un-monitored areas. There weren't any more fights on the High Street at closing time, they'd moved into the residential neighborhoods instead. But now the streets are as dangerous as they ever were 15 years ago, maybe more so.

Putting up the cameras tended to remove the beat cop from the street which made the streets even more dangerous. The best deterrent to crime is an active police presence and regular foot and car patrols. Period!

Well, why stop there wolf h?

How 'bout we put cameras in every home. It doesn't have to cost anything because it can be at the homeowner's expense.

And while we're at it, let's make everyone check in to the corner policeman every week--make that every day!! That should bring down the crime rate--just like it did in Germany circa late 1930's!!
