To accurately determine at what level your IQ score places you, you need to know something about the test's characteristics. For example, most standardized IQ tests have a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15. If the test you took uses these standard characteristics, then your score of 115 is 1 standard deviation above the standardization sample (not the whole population) and places you in the 84th percentile. That means you scored better than 84% of those individuals upon which the test was normed. If, indeed, you took an online IQ test, your score may not mean much of anything because the test's characteristics are not very reliable. Actually, KC's information is extremely outdated. Most tests do not use that calculation anymore. The criteria are much more complicated these days.

The way an IQ score works out, is that it is your "mental age" (m.a.) or the performance of your brain, divided by your chronological age (c.a.) and then multiplied by 100. Therefore, a person with a mental age of (12) divided by their age (12) times 100 would give them an IQ of 100. (ca/ma x 100) That 100 is the average IQ, no matter what your age is, and any difference by 15 points (85-115) either up or down is considered normal. An IQ of 115 is normal, meaning you don't have to worry about sounding too stupid or stuck-up.

You're slightly above average (the average in the US is about 100).
You really don't need to tell anybody your IQ anyway -- your IQ score doesn't necessarily indicate how "smart" you are, what it measures is how quickly and easily you learn things, that's all.
People with higher IQs *tend* to learn more quickly and easily than people with lower IQs, but that does NOT mean a lower IQ means you're not smart, it just means you might have to work harder at learning. Some of the smartest and most successful people in history have had average or below-average IQs. It's just a test that estimates one aspect of learning, nothing more.

Normal IQ for any age is 76 on the lower level to 100 on the higher level. now this is for any age. So if you have a 115 then you are above the normal levels, so enjoy it.

First of all......why do you feel the need to run around telling people what you got on an IQ test? They are not very good at deciding your intelligence. And second, if you took one online, well, they are a joke and should never be used.
Intelligence is based on common sense AND book learning. There are some VERY educated people out there that have no common sense at all. And there are some VERY intelligent people out there who never got to go to school past the 5th grade. See what I mean?

The average IQ is somewhere around 100, so your score ranks you in the high, or perhaps "gifted" area.
