Will The Cycle Of Child Abuse Ever End?
I was a victim and chose to end it by not abusing my children or grand children. Often times when people are abused as children they grow up and abuse. It does not maks sense to me as you know the pain it cause's both physically and emotionally so why would you then do the same to your child. people know of the abuse and choose to say well it's not my child by ignoring you are hurting a child. If you know of a child being abused talk to the abuser about seeking help or contact someone who can help the innocent defenseless child. Bless you all! to stand by and do nothing makes us as guilty as the person doing the abuse

In your case the cycle ended with you. You chose to be a loving parent rather than an abusive one.

The sad truth is when you grow up with an abusive (pysically, phsycologically, sexually, mentally, etc) environment, that's all you know. It's like a tradition, and you pass that down the line. Luckily, you were able to recognise this and make a difference in your family. May God continue to guide you and your family and hope that you have touched someone else out here enough to stop the cycle in their lives.

SOmetimes when your an abused child and grow up all the anger is still in you from blaming yourself to why did it happen. But most of the abused children from old can get over it and can end the cycle of abuse if they really want to. But most would rather do it and blame some one else for it. I believe in helping the children and women been abused. But it takes more than a hand full to make it stop. SO One day it might stop but I don't see it will be soon.

It seems to me that all my friends who have been abused won't do the same to their children. I've been slightly abused too (only spanking, no serious bruises), and I am completely sure that i will not do that to my future children. But who knows? perhaps people change from their anti-abuse philosophy once they become adults because the abuse happened so long ago. I certainly hope i don't.

sure, i think it may end. I too grew to become right into a sufferer of abuse. and that i've got ended the cycle with my little ones. it somewhat is extremely no longer common. yet understanding which you do no longer want to inflict the discomfort on your little ones which you went with the aid of is what I carry on. God Bless you on your exchange!

I agree, it is a vicious cycle that I have never understood. You sound like a wonderful parent. I am one of the people who will never stand idly by and allow abuse to continue. Bless you too, and happy new year!

One of my favorite quotes is that if the good do nothing then they are just contributing to the bad.

There are two ways to come out of child abuse...
One is your way.
Two is to have the thinking that it's supposed to be that way.
I know, it's surprising but it happens

You have to want the change as you did...Congrats to you...I was physically abused myself, and do not beat my kids as I always have my childhood upbringing in the back of my head... It takes a strong person to do this, as this is what u know. Love them, love them, and love them more and more each day...
