I'm female, 19, only 5'2, and 138 pounds. I never use to weigh this much, I've had some problems with Anorexia/Bulemia in the past...the past 6 months, I have packed on the weight beyond belief and I really want a jump start on losing it. I always tell myself, "no you can't eat that, you've eaten too much today, you need to work out blah blah" but I always give in and binge in the evening. I have a problem with my self esteem, I hate looking at myself in the mirror. Whenever I see perfect girls on tv, I get crabby and paranoid always thinking that my boyfriend is thinking their perfect. He says things like "oh shes too thin, look at her bones", and I take it wrong, thinking, "hes saying that to make me feel better, but it only makes me feel worse". I want to lose this weight, now, I wanna look amazing for when I go back to college. Please help. Anyone have any experiences like this?

I know what you are going through. I am shorter than you. I weigh 147 lbs. I hate the way I look! So far I lost three lbs. If you think you are chubby go to this website: am-i-fat.com. Go to am I fat? On the left under the heart. Put in your height and weight, then calculate. It will tell you the answer!OK. Right now I am on the slim-fast diet ,writing down what I eat/ calories and watching what I eat. Plus working out on my Tony Little Gazelle Edge for 20 minutes two times a day Monday-Sunday. Just watch what you eat and cut out the sugar!! (candy, cookies, cakes, soda, and pastries) Once you cut those out you'll be amazed with how much weight you will lose. Focus on fruits and veggies. If you eat a salad DON'T have ANY dressing!!! I am not telling you want to do but I'm helping you lose weight by giving you some advice!! Good luck!

I have battle weight all my life and never understood what people meant when they said losing weight was a life decision. Trust me, it is. I've tried every fad diet around thinking that if I got to where I wanted to be then I would change my habits to keep it off, but it NEVER worked. I would gain it back twice as fast as I lost it. The definite key is life change, make new habits, just good ones. But the absolute first thing you need to do is gain back control of your self esteem. You are a beautiful person no matter what size you are. Once you realize that, I promise you the weight will come off easier because you will feel better about yourself.

As far as your boyfriend, ease up! If he didn't want to be there, he wouldn't be. In fact, being crabby to him and being jealous will make you lose him faster than any weight issue.

And last, NO BODY looks the way people do on tv. I've heard numerous stars in interviews say that they wish they looked that good in real life. They have trainers, hair stylists, and designers that spend literally hours a day to make them look good - IT ISN'T NATURAL!

I hope this helps. Best of luck!

I don't think you are that much overweight. I think you just need to be a little more choosy about what you eat. Last year I needed to lose 70 pounds to have hip surgery. I also had to quit smoking at the same time, so it was a double whammy. I started out at 6 foot 7 inches tall and weighed 330. I totally quit drinking soda pop and eliminated most carbs from my diet. It took me 4 months to drop the weight and have continued since the surgery and now weigh 225. You can do it, just watch what you eat. I found the soda pop was what was really the culprit. It is completely sugar and a total waste. Set yourself small goals, like try to get to 130 by Valentines day. Then try to lose 5 more pounds by St. Patricks day. Then set a goal for Easter. It's easier to do this way, at least that's what I found. Personally I like my women to have curves, Nicole Ritchie... I don't think so.

To start you might wanna consider talking to a psychiatrist about your self esteem issues sometime these things can get pretty serious and maybe your a candidate for some type of anti depressant.Second you body weight to height ratio sounds fine, I think you may just need a little toning which is very easily solve with hitting the gym for about an hour day.Third CHEER up there are some folks who would love to be you size and have a boyfriend.

since you want to lose weigh so bad then why are you giving in ? In the morning always eat a healthy meal like fruit or egg and toast , then in the afternoon you eat some thing more at last for dinner you eat something light like a salad or nothing . Thats why eat more for lunch so you dont get really hungry at night . Try to go to the gym if youre embarrased in the gym then go bikeriding or running. And you should believe in you're self and never give up . And I'm sure you're loves you so much that he doesn't want you to feel bad and maybe he really think its true about the skinny girls just don't think otherwise . Good Luck !!!!! : )

Because you've "had some problems with Anorexia/Bulemia" I would not recommend taking advice from just anybody. If you are concerned about your weight (and i don't think 5'2" and 138 is all that much) I would direct you to a serious program such as Weight Watchers. It is the program that both my wife and I have used to lose 60 pounds each.

wow Slow down missy. You need to slow down. are you confortable with the way you look? There are lots of woman in the world and some are pretty and some are ugly. Different people are attracted to different things that is why we dont all look alike unless your boyfriend is telling you that he wants you to look like those girls on t.v. then he probably likes you just the way you are. Just make sure you get 30 min. of some kind of excersise a day and eat healthy (not macdonalds everyday) I am 5'4 and 175 and I dont think I am over weight so you are pretty thin. Stop throwing up it makes your breath stink and your teeth will rot and fall out then you will be ugly. And if you starve yourself your body will start to eat its self you dont want that. Love your self take care of the body that you have.

Go for a run every night about the time you usally give in and binge eat. When you run run so hard that you don't want to do anything but sleep when you get home. Then take a shower and get some sleep. You will be amazed how much better you will feel after about a week of this. Plus you will loose some pounds in the process.

Maybe some counselling is in order, because I personally think you need to work on your self esteem and body image issues. You are still way too wrapped up in looking a certain way and being thin and perfect. You know that if you start dieting, it could soon get out of hand. Just try to eat healthily and exercise regularly, you don't need to diet. Take care : )
