From time to time my dog will take my wrist in his mouth and "gum" it. He doesn't bite or apply any kind of pressure. What is behind this behaviour? He doesn't do it to anyone else in the house.

My dog very occasionally does this (greyhound) to me and only me. I always thought of it as a sign of affection cos she'll do it for about half a minute, then stand there with this little shy and coy expression on her face like 'look at me, i'm so cute'. or maybe i read too much into it!

Or maybe he's playing with you while making sure not to hurt you. My dog does this from time to time. (course she's 12 going on 13 so that may be why)
