Torbaynewfs..... completely agree "I also, never takes used dog houses " - they is may be problem-solving, its many
infected.

I'm also recommend a new natural wooden house.
Look this: http://www.doghouseplans.com -good dog house for $29.99 U.S. or you can order the dog house plans that are designed for your type of dog..

It is very important:
- the proper sized dog house for your dog.
To accomplish this, you have to measure your dog. You take the measurement from the ground to the top of the front shoulder when the dog is standing.
If your dog is puppy you can see the different kinds of dogs listed with each set of dog house plans.

I never take used wooden dog houses. They just CANNOT be cleaned. Any of the plastic Dogloo, or Igloo, or other plastic ones are best as they can be cleaned and disinfected.

I run a program that takes used dog houses and gives them to people that do not have one and cannot afford one. The wooden ones have given us some problems in the past.

I would think your dog would use it. Put something like a blanket inside that the dog already uses. If your dog is male, hopefully the blanket will keep him from peeing on his new house.

i have shih tzu and when i got her, my friend gave me a dog house used by her dog, but my dog refused to go inside it. i also had a golden retriever/irish setter mix who wouldn't use a used doghouse...however, another friend gave me a used cat bed, and my shih tzu loves it!! i guess it all depends...
i would opt for buying a new house, so your dogs can mark it for themselves.

It depends on the dog.
